What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

Put a renewed #1623 idler pulleys on my 701 Wheel Horse with the hydro pump and CBR-327 chain drive sickle bar mower.  Prondzy does an excellent job replacing the bearings on these old #1623 riveted pulleys.   See vendor section for more information on his repair service!

i had to take off the hydro pump and the hydro pump brAcket to get the belt guard off!  I was surprised ho  we’d good the drive belt looked after four years!  Not changing it!

The old pulley was noisy and the bearings were  very rough once removed -  so I used one of my rebuilt ones.

Loaded up the Cargo Pro trailer with it's first WH for a ride back to Maine. This one will be at the Meet & Greet without all it's sheet metal, just didn't want it to miss out on all the fun.

First time in at least 20 years this tractor ran and drove!!!

2nd pull it came to life, no smoke no noises,. Wow this is light in the front, I never drove one of these, even at 1/2 spd and 2nd gear she wants jump.

I have to figure out something with the throttle cable.  I can see why people hacked these hoods up back in the day

Cinnamon was kind of jumpy when I first put it together. Third gear I had to let out the clutch in idle and then raise it up.

On that cable, if it turns out you need a lever style let me know. I've got a few sitting around that I will likely never use. If it's a push pull with a round knob achto has a link to psep.

I'll use my first post to congratulate you on completing your resto. Great looking tractor. I've watched as you finished this up. Great job!

It wasn't my first post. My responses in the classifieds must have counted.

So, can we talk about a couple things here...

you'll note the amp gauge operating erraticly...not sure why...and obviously one can hear the govenor is out of adjustment...how is this done again?

Thought I had it good...loosend the nut, and turned the disk counter clockwise,  then retightened. Anything I'm missing to get it adjusted correctly?

I'm sure someone else would be able to explain it better than I could so I'll let that go.

As far as the amp guage, the one on my 854 is erratic also, seem to settle down after it runs a while.

@AMC RULES the disc and governor shaft both must be turned counter clockwise.  I remember the direction by opening the throttle at the carb manually and following that direction with the shaft.
