Not all conduit lock nuts are created equally.     The Big Box stores carry the cheap ones intended for EMT or NM fittings.   Go to a good electrical suppl house and buy lock nuts for rigid conduit, they are much heavier.

It really proves the point you can achieve a great paint finish with rattle cans if you properly prep and follow the steps

Decided to clean out and reorganize the back shop. Moved out all the rakes, shovels and misc lawn tools to access the 48'' dozer blade that I bought new in 1991. This blade was used for 10 years and then stored once I bought the 44'' 2 stage blower. Did not plan to do anything other than wash it but once I got it outside and with a beautiful day to paint I decided to touch it up a bit. Removed the original cutting edge which looks like I can flip it and use the other edge for some time. Decided to paint the front and the bottom of the back for now as I am just about done painting for this year. I did find a NOS cutting edge also that I bought with the blade but have not needed it yet. When Patti came home from work I wanted her to see what I had done, she laughed when she saw 6 tractors parked in there and I asked her which was her favorite out of the 520,420, 418,417,312 or the 1977 C- 120 with the WD 40 finish and guess which one she picked, the C-120 and I asked why ?  She said she likes the old look of the paint. I told her I did also and hopefully you may see more of that look next Saturday.

I'm about to start mowing "the back 40" today.

 

There's two swamp Maples back there with surface roots everywhere. Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy fun!

 

I drop the deck, move 10 feet and the deck makes this horrific noise.

 

Not like whittling a root, I have the deck adjusted to just skim the roots.

I shut off the deck, lift it up and back up.

 

There's a 12" long chunk of 1" diameter root laying on completely scalped grass.

 

Scalped the exact shape of a 42" SD.

 

The deck had dropped to the dirt and ate everything in sight. Other than the deck noise, the tractor didn't really care. LMAO.

The hitch pin on the deck height adjuster must've jettisoned off the tractor and at the same time the spring somehow disappeared. The spring can't fall off, so it must've disintegrated?!?

I always have a spare hitch clip on the tractor so I plugged it in and kept mowing. I could have just rested my right foot on the height adjuster lever if I didn't have a spare clip on the tractor.

I'll third that. My second job as a kid was at an electrical supply warehouse. We sold only Bridgeport fittings. I learned there that the cheapo stamped steel lock nuts are garbage.

What's wrong with Square D? QO is just about the best you can get..

Can someone give me some info on this tractor and what its worth. Listed as "runs drives works, reverse is slow due to small transmission leak" ..... i dont know anything about hydros. I need to know the model, engine, is the trans easily fixable etc. Im very interested in jumping on it but don't wanna waste the money. You guys are the experts.

I saw this on Facebook this morning....I looked behind the Item for sale, and sort of got an Idea that this thing was a MUTT of all sorts of parts. It may be worth more in parts than its assembled condition. If you look in the background of the first picture....it sort of tells a story

Looks like a 1968 or 9.

if the loader works okay then it by itself is worth between $800 and $1,200 even if a little rough.

Others will answer about the tractor itself.

the bucket seems to have alot of holes in it also upon close inspection..If the Reverse is slow, and the forward is fine...Im guessing its not a leak that is causing that situation...

Weak reverse is most likely bad neutral adjustment or acceleration valve issue not a leak.

 

If I read the spec number correctly 47651 it is a service engine (also blue paint) not original.

I am......1000.00 is a better price..

Keep in mind, thats if it actually performs its functions when you go to test it out
