I'll maybe look for a kit. Brake cleaner I have.

You could perhaps look up online what the chemical is that they use and just pick up a metal paint can and do a homemade version.

I've found that the soak time is very valuable to the overall end result.

Pretty pleased with how it looks mounted up.20200903_164155.jpg.b48dd2436b3a578555dcbdd1fac976e2.jpg

Thing has a pretty good shine going on there.20200903_163707.jpg.38f326eac2216c71488ecb4a90285f11.jpg

Just gotta decide if I can live with the original model number decal, or not. 20200903_163906.jpg.20fa821e7970fb36e5d026bb23ccec0a.jpgForgot that it has a slight blemish.  :confusion-shrug:

I'm no expert but is there any way to cut that out or repair it?

I would have Terry reprint one, but I would reverse the colors to off white background and a red 854, just to add a little custom touch

Got a trailer to tote around the horse instead of putting in the back of the pickup. I'm not a fan of driving up or down ramps. Turns out the entire trailer tips back so it becomes one big ramp which is supposed to make things easier.

20200903_231812.thumb.jpg.fc67970e2839e58970af207f7d39d4c7.jpg

Well, lesson learned. Remove the tiller before driving onto the trailer! Lifted the front two tires and by the time I got them down they were on the tongue of the trailer. I also added front wheel weights to help when I go to remove the horse Saturday.

Paint on the trailer is looking a little rough. It could probably do with a coat of WH red in the future.

Some day i'll learn my lesson and stop doing wheelies with this tractor.

Awesome purchase Josh!!!

Watch the machines on the construction sites and every once in a while you'll see a neat modification that you'll want to try at home.

Like when scooping out that sandbox a row of teeth would help.

Forks are handy too.

You could increase the size of the tires and get them fluid filled like I did on Cinnamon Horse.

That made a HUGE difference.

Also add a front weight bracket to the front of the frame.

I have plans to do that to Trina's 867.

I used one like that for several years, had to add sides and a front fence because when the tires are damp they tend to want to slip and slide on the expanded steel. I always back onto a trailer,  much safer.                :twocents-02cents:

Good question!  I guess I should’ve bought that Lxi that came up for sale about three months ago locally.  It was a really good deal.  Oh well, as long as Caleb and Claudia are on yard duty with me, momma doesn’t need to be.  It does give me a good excuse to keep an eye open for another Xi since I have a mower and blower already😉

Loader looks great on there Josh!!:handgestures-thumbupright: It will be handy for banking up the corners on the dirt track that the kids will be needing.;)

For sure dan!  I bought Judge an Indian FTR shirt the other day and now he is obsessed with flat track racing:auto-biker: Indian has some great commercials on that bike. I feel like they are doing a good job so far of tying them in to their heritage with bikes like the Chieftain but looking at the future with bikes like the Challenger and the Scout!

Dirt tracks may very well be a part of my future🤔

Tractorhead

Cool machine especially with the combo FEL  Josh.

A real sensefully add on for a FEL, is a Float valve for the Lift Cylindres.

if suggested to change - i did it on Mine.

Leveling with a FEL is than much easier to do.

That makes sense. I'll try loading backwards next time. I think it will also put the tires in a more favorable position (wheels on the cross beams) on the trailer. I'm getting a bit of sag on the expanded steel.

What size tires did you go with? Do I need to worry about them lifting the front of the tractor at all because they are bigger?

I'm hoping the trip this weekend actually happens. I had everything loaded last night to head up north earlier this evening, but I ended up popping a brake line on my way to work. :angry-cussingblack: That's what I get for driving a truck older than myself.

On the rear I was careful to choose a type of tire that runs a little bit large which is a Carlisle ag/bar type. I went 2 inches weider but stayed with the stock height.

The rears are a 23 x 10.50 x 12.

On the front I went a little more extreme.

Stock size was a16 x 5.5.

I went up to a 20 x 8.

it's important to note that I don't run a mower so the height had very little effect on anything I do. I gained an inch in height in the rear and about 2 inches in the front.

By increasing the size of the tires, wheels, and adding fluid weight I was able to bring the front weight up on the tractor by approximately 120 lb.

If you don't want to increase the outside diameter of the tires so that you can maintain a stock height you could find some rims off of a later model and step up to 16 x 8.5 wide tires. If you fluid filled those and also added steel weight your forward ballast issues would be greatly reduced.

The tiller makes a good wheelie bar does it?

I once borrowed the neighbor's disc after plowing my garden with my 8n.  The disc was probably one size too big, even with some suitcase weights on the front of the tractor.  Found out the disc was a good wheelie bar when I had stopped with both rear wheels in a dead furrow.  The whole tractor rotated around the rear axle until the disc hit the ground when I tried to drive out.
