Tractorhead 9,064 #6112 Posted August 15, 2020 firstly i mounted the Plow hitch with the Steelrope i have in stock. (6mm in diameters) given ripforce from the Manufacturer is 2 To. i think that should last. than i reworked the hood, to hide the big hole in the Front. covered it for now with an Antenna dummy in chrome. at least for the Moment i mounted 2 LED Spots on the Frame, to have a bit light while drive in the Dark. They have 24W each, that is dang bright, i tested them before on the Balcony when a Car with activated high beam passes. He immediately switch down to normal headlights. 😂 3
pfrederi 17,665 #6113 Posted August 15, 2020 First picture You have saddled a dead horse. The saddle (bigger part) goes against the cable that is taking the load. Never saddle a dead horse is an expression used over here to assure correct hook up of the cable clamp. 1 1
Tractorhead 9,064 #6114 Posted August 15, 2020 @pfrederi Thanks Paul for that Advice, did you have any closer Pict, where i can see it how it must be Attached and if i understand it right. i don‘t wanna Kill any Part of my Horse. Thanks in advance. Again realign the Front part of the Hood for the Plug (Chrome) Now it fits completely closed. Today we have Holiday and i don‘t wanna make too much noise. so the rest of the Hood must wait until i have more time and be able to hammer it back in shape. Than i decide to have a look under the Enginecover. i see few grasshalms lurking between the Top of the Enginecovers out, that is not a good sign for the Cooling... and i‘m right. not too much, but it clogs the fins and a free cooling airflow wasn‘t given. After remove that, i decide to clean the Fins, from old dirt, that an well Enginecooling is given. Inbetween the Fins i pulled with a piece of the Steelrope (6mm) and cleaned them out. later i use again a steelbrush to remove all the gnaddl and grind 😂 out of the Fins. A clean Engine airflow path was the result. At least i check the Electric, and find, that one diode is missing. i know i had Diodes, they will fit, but i also have from my past projects a complete regulator up to 15 Amps. Think i will changeover to that regulator, but i don‘t like to reactivate the e-Starter. A bit choke a bit throttle and this engine fire right up after first pull, so i.m.h.o an E- start is not required and the Pullstart is more stylish. i will keep that Board still on the Engine, because it‘s original, but i will remove the Diode and attach a normal regulator on it. the Ground wire is still connected to the Starter + to keep it away from moving Parts.
Tractorhead 9,064 #6116 Posted August 15, 2020 Ah ok, i understand correctly what you meant. thanks for the Pict‘s 👍 on the rear, the alignment is right, just in the front section the rope doesn‘t complete align but is also in right direction if you look closer. Pulling rope is down in the clamp where the screw‘s are. Just in the Front the return sling of the rope must be moved bit sidewards to be prespaned with a pliers. There was not much Way to handle also the Screws. So it‘s misaligned, that seems to be wrong but it ain‘t. Will try tomorrow in the Front Section if i can it rework it that it aligns better in the Clamp. but thanks for the advice.

AMC RULES 37,127 #6118 Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) Probably doesn't look like much, but it was a long, and tedious push today, to complete all the tin work for this engine. When you're sanding by hand, let me tell you, my poor little shoulder definitely got a workout today. Edited August 15, 2020 by AMC RULES 1
JCM 9,130 #6119 Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) Started at 6 am this morning and stopped at 6 pm, but that included several hours of reorganization in the garage. Worked on the 418-A for a bit to figure why I needed so much pressure on the Hydro lever to go in either direction, picture tells the story. Shop vac came out and a long flat blade screwdriver to loosen debris and then lubed all moving points for now and will re visit after 420 is back on it's feet. Worked on the motion control assembly on the 420 and finished that up but never took pics, long day, will take a few tomorrow and post. Sanded the side covers on the 418 and ready for paint. WHX?? 48,779 #6120 Posted August 15, 2020 You need to get a blast cabinet Madge... makes short work of that job. I got the new seat on the super C. Not much groin room between the wheel so don't know if it will stay on. Sure is a comfy seat tho.

Pullstart 62,791 #6123 Posted August 16, 2020 The C series and the 300 series have virtually the same frame. You should be all set!
Pullstart 62,791 #6124 Posted August 16, 2020 Giving the XI a little blow jobby to the engine compartment with the air gun! It’s got years of grass and leaves and after an hour or so of mowing the temp gauge starts to creep up to the orange area. One thing’s for sure... It’s a monster! CRUISE CONTROL? Are you kidding? 6 2
