Most of this $15/doz corn is going to the cities...Balt, Philly, and NYC. My neighbor told me the big corporate farmers can't get help to pick the crops. Their migrant work force is not able to travel and is drawing covid unemployment and not available to work. Thus creating a shortage and driving up the price for the family farmer that picks what he plants. The local Giant Food Store had some sad looking corn for $7/doz. today. Four weeks ago, they had nice SC corn for $2.40/doz.
johnnymag3 2,515 #5627 Posted July 3, 2020 Its a mad world when migrant workers are making more a week not working, vs. the middle class folk working for a full 8 hrs. a day 1
Jhatch13 31 #5628 Posted July 3, 2020 I helped my buddy clean up his 856. We got this from the same gentleman i bought my 312 from. If he wasnt going to buy it, I was. When we brought it home, it looked like it had 50+ years of rust and patina. We were originally going to rub it down with a mixture of mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil to shine it up and preserve the patina. After hitting it with the pressure washer, there was more red paint hiding under there than we thought. The original hood was dinged up, but we were able to find a replacement that matched pretty closley in color. Fires right up with a turn of the key, and the cigarette lighter still works. 7

Jhook 849 #5631 Posted July 3, 2020 Pulled it out to mow a tiny section of grass that i always miss cause my tow truck is parked in the way. Hopped on the tractor with an ice coffee in my left hand. Went to put in on the footrest while i released the brake and lowered the deck. Then i realized i have a cupholder 😎 definitely something to appreciate compared to my old mower 7

19richie66 17,500 #5638 Posted July 4, 2020 Mowed my new yard with my “new” 417-12A. Awesome cut till the PTO spud bearing let go. Just a small glitch to contend with. Yes the seat leans backwards. It’s on a gt14 mounting plate till I get a new seat. Actually very comfortable though

TonyToro 1,044 #5640 Posted July 5, 2020 I picked up 2 snowblowers and a Tiller. All 3 came with owners manuals. The plan is to fit them up to the C-145. I’m unsure if I am going to keep the short chute. This all my sons doing. He is the driving force for “most” of this WheelHorse stuff....
balconio 606 #5642 Posted July 5, 2020 Since our town didn't have any 4th of July activities, we held our own small parade up and down our private road. Began by washing the fleet All clean and tidy Making preparations, flags mounted Riders ready to go After the parade we parked them up by the road Flags flying in the breeze Later we had a bonfire with my brother's family and one of our neighbors spent a bunch of money and put on a pretty decent fireworks show. God bless America! 4 6 1
D_Mac 8,593 #5643 Posted July 5, 2020 Sorry to see it go. Had a buyer come from 2 hrs away to buy the C-161 today. I did well on it. He is happy, I am happy. Got room to breathe in the garage again. He is not a member here but a Wheel Horse fan. Hope it treats him well. 5 1
WHX?? 48,776 #5644 Posted July 5, 2020 (edited) Hopefully you turned him on to RS Mac... Put @Racinbob's not so patented speed pullies on the 1055. She's a screamer now..I is sceered! Transmission is a bit noisyer now so may have to tune it back a bit. But looking back at what I started no surprise. Also painted up a set of wide Cub style rims Kev give me for some V-61's for her. JCM 9,130 #5645 Posted July 5, 2020 Now comes the hard part, finding someone to mount the tires without barking the rims up. Nice rims by the way.

I got a HF mini changer, best 40 Washingtons ever spent BTW, I took a piece of pex and heated it up and slit it with a box cutter and use that for a rim guard when peeling them on. 3
cleat 5,809 #5647 Posted July 6, 2020 I will try that pex trick next time I use my tire changer thanks for the tip I really like the mini tire changer as well I have used it many times from 6” right up to the wide 12” rims for the 520’s
WHX?? 48,776 #5648 Posted July 6, 2020 (edited) I must be a glutton for punishment. Got tires of stumbling over this 3 speed in the shop so cracked her open to see what shakes. Thoughts were to resto it for a shelf spare or future project. Only short side hitch pin out of the case but at lease she's on the move! With the 3.5" I have on mine I'd guess 2nd gear is pretty close to the stock 3rd gear. Edited July 6, 2020 by Racinbob
