What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

@echris    Today before I was able to straighten the side of the tunnel I had to remove the brake rod which on a 420 it runs beside the frame behind the lift cylinder and hydraulic hoses before it enters the tunnel and it is close to the bottom above the frame with no room to work and a cotter pin broken off sticking out about a 64th of an inch on both sides at a 45 degree angle. I needed to walk around the yard for 5 minutes before I came up with an idea. I took a file and reached down inside holding the rod from the out side and made very short strokes about 50 times before the cotter pin was flush with the rod. Pulled it out and knocked the remainder of the cotter pin out with the roll pin punch. Why anyone would put a cotter pin down there is beyond me. Hairpin is going back on the reinstall. It seems I remember in a parts book that there originally was a hairpin. I'd like to meet the guy that put that cotter pin in there.

Cotter pins are like roll pins. They're great, until they aren't.

I grew up with an 8N and loved riding around on it and doing little jobs around our property.  Now I’m living on a much smaller piece of land and don’t “need” a tractor, but I want to be able to share the experience with my kids.

:WRS:

Glad to have you with us.   :text-coolphotos:               Great to see people wanting their children to grow up with a tractor, especially a :wh:.

Try stainless stuff, they are awesome, and always use a FLAT washer to prevent shear..:tools-wrench:

I think that is a standard feature of Wisconsin trucks.

Assembled the deck. Going to let it sit outside unless we get some rain. Waiting for the decals to arrive from @Vinylguy . Might see if I can go over to where the tractor is and grab 2 wheels off it. I will put it up on jack stands, paint 2 , bring them back and grab the other 2. Guess I will paint them silver, I think thats what they were originally. Hard to tell.

Started on a rear wheel seal...Found out how mice get their exercise once I took the wheel weight off...Think I'll take the weights all off and leave them off.

Wonder why they got painted silver? That is the original paint underneath?

And here's where it really gets funny.
Dave is an old school engineer and scientist.
Usually when you ask him a "why", he will give you all the science until your eyes roll back in your head.

Ask him why he has a box, chock full, labeled, "Carbon" and he'll reply, "Well..what would I use it for? I don't know, but I might need some carbon one day." :)

Love that old coot.

That's me.

Drives people to the far side of sideways crazy sometimes.

And I enjoy it.
