ebinmaine 67,274 #5301 Posted June 18, 2020 @johnnymag3 and @WHX24 The Cinnamon Horse is either reddish brown or brownish red depending on who what where when and why at the given moment. So it's halfway there.

Let the clutch out, slammed the throttle and said, "Whoa!" He stopped, put her in 2nd, dropped the throttle and pulled her in my driveway. 1
8ntruck 6,991 #5303 Posted June 18, 2020 We went on dock duty last Sunday. Hauled all the sections down the hill closer to the lake, gave them a wash with deck wash, sanded the deck boards, and just finished staining them this afternoon. Not sure how old the dock is, but is appears to be unfinished pressure treated lumber. It is 3' wide and 32' long. Took 2 1/2 gallons of stain. Tomorrow is a curing day for the stain and installing the Tommy Dock hardware. If all goes well, it will be in the water Friday. 8

Greentored 3,201 #5307 Posted June 18, 2020 Dont think I posted it here as I started a specific thread for it, but got my custom slapped together over the weekend! Over the last couple evenings I installed the parking brake setup, shifter plate and hitch, hooked up an old drag I acquired when picking up a trailer load of parts tractors, and put her to driveway duty yesterday for her shakedown run. Other than a plugged fuel petcock halfway through, she did a wonderful job. I also pulley'd this machine 5" engine/4" trans and love it! Low range is much more useful, wide open high 1st- light throttle 2nd are perfect working speeds, and high range 3rd is a blast if I need to get around quickly, like when my beer is empty or there is a wasp flying around my head 7 4

D_Mac 8,593 #5309 Posted June 18, 2020 Ordered new decals for the hood and mower deck for my new purchase. I am only going to paint the deck and the wheels. Leaving the original paint on the tractor. I think the original color on the wheels are gray/ silver ? I might just go black. Also PO painted the muffler. Anyone recommend a good muffler paint? Any High Heat paint will do? I am pretty sure the paint on it isnt high heat.
Lane Ranger 10,945 #5310 Posted June 18, 2020 I bought some nice 1/2 x 13 cap nuts to place on one of my Wheel Horse RJ’s Wheel Wright bolts! The threads stick out a little and I wanted to keep from getting my legs gouged when moving around the tractor. Plus cap nuts protect the thread ends and look good too! I also used a cap nut under a long seat carriage bolt on my 854 to keep from getting my hand gouged or scraped when reaching into the rear tool box! 8
PeacemakerJack 10,738 #5311 Posted June 18, 2020 (edited) I have been painting mufflers for about 15 years and I have had little to no lasting success...until I tried this... it is rated to 2000 degrees and has a very special curing process. I did three mufflers this way about 3 years ago and they still look great today. I used the 2000 degree primer and coated with the paint over top. It comes in three colors currently including silver, black, and red. It is also available in a clear coat. Right down to bare metal. If you don't do that it's going to keep baking itself off of the muffler from the inside. I'm with @PeacemakerJack We have a pretty wicked leaning preference towards Rust-Oleum products in general. So of course we've tried their barbecue paint. That's what's on the Cinnamon Horse. We have also used it on the stove that Trina redid for the upstairs of the house. That's been through one heating season and still looks great. As mentioned above it is important to cure it in the way that is dictated on the spray can or your results may vary. We've also tried a high heat silver of some sort. That worked good as well for the Pony Horse. 1 2

JCM 9,130 #5317 Posted June 18, 2020 It's been close to 20 years since doing any painting or trans swap and now I find myself with 2 projects at the same time in 2 different States. The 310-8 and the 420. Taking my time and actually enjoying them both with no deadlines to meet, unlike at work. Thank you @squonk for the NAPA info on the seals for both tractors. A few pics for now. 7

PeacemakerJack 10,738 #5322 Posted June 19, 2020 Please correct me if I’m wrong @JCM but that Chev is the one in the vintage truck thread that you have owned since new🤔. If so, that is a beauty. If not, you need to add pics and details of that truck in the vintage trucks thread as well😉 After work this morning, I got the boys to help me clean up a bunch of old metal junk from our tree line, much to the joy of Mrs. Peacemaker 😁. Included were a pile of old VERY RUSTY decks. I decided to salvage anything decent off of them before scrapping the hole ridden hulls. These decks were all ones that I had taken in the package deal that included my 1054A. The spindles seemed to be well greased and in AMAZING condition and so we salvaged all of those and are storing them if needed. Will those fit a later model hull like a 48” for a 418-C for instance? They seem to be a much more durable design🤔 The last deck had a particularly stubborn center pulley but Judge and I kept working at it with a heavy dose of tenacity (for you Kevin😉) and finally got it to free up! Then Caleb and I put mommas deuce back together. Some idiot (that would be yours truly) managed to run a gallon ice cream pail full of frozen water through the impeller last winter. it sheared the key on the drive sprocket right in two and bent that one impeller bar. We got a new key in and reset the chain tension, straightened the impeller, lubed everything up, and put it into summer storage. Hopefully it will work as it should next winter🤞🏻 Then we got the D out and moved it into the shop! I’m really excited about the new attachment I’m picking up this weekend for it. So, I’ll take the time to chain fluids, do some routine maintenance, and get it ready to work! 6 3

Ill try that this weekend and report back to you. 'By the book' calculations show very close to double the speed at trans input, taking it from approx 5.6mph to 11mph. Butt GPS says thats about correct. I gotta say its quite comfortable, unlike GPS confirmed 28mph on the 654 trail bomber which is quite the white knuckle ride 1
