Jim, hydraulics will make that tractor a perfect plow mule. Let me know when you need the crank shaft extension made so that you can use that CW Hein Wernner pump. WHX?? 48,815 #5253 Posted June 16, 2020 (edited) On 6/14/2020 at 9:58 AM, Racinbob said: A few days ago I posted that I swapped the 2.5" engine pulley with a 3" on my 854 to get just a fuzz more speed. I had to up the belt size to 71" and it worked like a charm. While I was happy with the results I never am willing to leave well enough alone so I decided to swap out the transmission pulley with a 3.5". I found a great place to get just about any pulley you want. usapulley.com The pulley was delivered yesterday and I made the swap this morning. I went back to the stock 70" belt. Perfect!! For pulling the grandkids around the paths 2nd gear is just right. 3rd gear pretty much gets with the program. Curiosity got me on the internet to find a calculator to figure RPM by just punching in the numbers. I used 2000 engine RPM which is about what I run it at. Stock 2.5" engine and 4" input = 1250rpm 3" engine and 4" input = 1500rpm 3" engine and 3.5" input = 1715rpm That comes out to almost a 40% increase. Ok, ok, I've got too much time on my hands but I've been instructed to take it easy for a few days, I figure swapping pulleys is taking it easy. Can you get me the sku's of the pullies you used Bob? Any problems with clearance on the belt guard? Looking to do the same to get a little more speed out of the 702. The way it sounds the stock 70 ' belt works. Also the 1055 that might get the same treatment if it works out as well as you say. Looks like they have quite the selection .... https://usapulley.com/ Edited June 16, 2020 by WHX24

His website is usapulley.com I don't think he had sku's. I had to open up the belt guard just a wee bit at the engine end and readjust the belt stop tab but you can't tell even knowing it's been done. Remember the bigger pulley is only 1/4" larger radius. A 70" belt looks to be about perfect. It doesn't allow the idler to pull back quite as far as the stock pulley setup but I think it's actually better. Belt engagement is excellent. So excellent that the first test drive it caught me off guard and the front wheels popped up about a foot as I was exiting the garage. 2
WHX?? 48,815 #5255 Posted June 16, 2020 Ok I was lookin on their website and he has sku's there. Silly me not thinking they are on flea bay. As long as I don't have to alter the belt guard. Dan and Cindy would strangle me I messed up the paint! Guessing the front is single groove? Not that it matters these girls won't ever run a attachment. Thanks Bob 2

This is definitely some thing that people should be aware of when they start playing with gearing/pulleying up their tractor. The two tractors that I have with larger pulleys on the engine like to pull the front wheels off of the ground on take off. With Radpferd you do not want to let the clutch out unless that engine as at an idle, or he will throw you on your back. Going faster is fun just remember to be safe. WHX?? 48,815 #5257 Posted June 16, 2020 BTW Dan the other day when I was playing on Radpferd she did pop out of third once but only on start .. never while cruisng. Maybe for how often it happens not worth opening again?

If you get on the throttle hard it will pop out on acceleration more than I care for. Seems there are not many shows this year I have moved that project to my winter list. I removed the three groove and used a single on the engine but I don't see why a double groove couldn't be added if a person wanted to run attachments. 44 minutes ago, WHX24 said: BTW Dan the other day when I was playing on Radpferd she did pop out of third once but only on start .. never while cruisng. Maybe for how often it happens not worth opening again? Put it in 3rd with just the detents holding it there and see if there's any in/out play on the drive pulley. There should be zero. I've installed a shim on the input shaft to eliminate some play on as few transmissions and my 854 was no exception. I try to select a thickness that allows just a tiny bit of pressure from the detent ball riding in the groove. Easy fix if you have that issue. It's only going to get worse if it isn't fixed. 1
