PeacemakerJack 10,738 #5178 Posted June 11, 2020 It was fun to get some wrenching time on @Coulter Caleb‘s JackRabbit (418-C). Last fall it was giving more trouble starting and I could tell that the PTO safety switch was on its way “out”. If I wiggled the PTO lever, I could get it to fire over. About three weeks ago we couldn’t get it to engage. I don’t recommend this...BUT...I bypassed everything by using a pair of jumper cables directly from an auxiliary battery to the starter and touch the black to the tractor battery with the key in the run position. It started every time but it was a MASSIVE PAIN to deal with and so I ordered the new safety switches and we put them in today. I would’ve taken pics but it was a pretty straightforward part exchange with the only headache being the rusted bolts. Once it was back together, tested the function and it worked great👍🏻! It had been awhile since I had done much cutting with JackRabbit and so I took a few passes in the back and Caleb captured them. I was reminded again why I like this tractor so much!!! Has anyone ever found or used a high vacuum blade with these 48”SD decks. This tractor could easily cut at 6-7mph in our lawn if the blades pulled the grass up into the deck cleanly. One of these days, we will give this thing a fresh coat of paint and get some custom decals from @Vinylguy we will eliminate the silver from the color palette and stick with red, black, and antique white! 3 6
WHX?? 48,779 #5179 Posted June 12, 2020 Built a corral for Cindy's 702. Not sure but I think Tom @Shynon or his boy Mike @prondzy suggested this for shows to keep unruly kids off. Bad news is she developed a clutching issue that needs sorting out. Oh well. 4 9
8ntruck 6,991 #5180 Posted June 12, 2020 I played pick up sticks with my 14-8 no name and sweeper today. Thought of a name for it while I was sweeping. What do y'all think about Journey? Late afternoon thunder storm blew through and took the power out. Listening to the Generac V twin generator purring along to keep the lights on. It really grunts when the A/C kicks on.
WHX?? 48,779 #5181 Posted June 12, 2020 Try looking for some appropriate high lift blades on Oregon's web site Josh @PeacemakerJack.

PeacemakerJack 10,738 #5185 Posted June 12, 2020 Initially I could accomplish a start with very minimal movement but within a month or two I was playing with it a lot. By wiggle, I mean wiggle towards on and back towards off, not right to left or up and down. The PTO lever does have some play but it isn’t what I would deem as excessive. When we finally repaint the tractor, I’ll be sure to put fresh bushings in it to tighten it up like new. I tested the old switch with my multimeter after I removed it and it was non functioning. I couldn’t get current to pass through it...

PeacemakerJack 10,738 #5187 Posted June 12, 2020 I’ll give it a try as I haven’t junked them yet. If it works, I’ll keep them on the shelf as spares👍🏻
Stormin 9,981 #5188 Posted June 12, 2020 Starter motor on the C-125 started to make unhealthy noises a few of week back. Bearing at the Bendix end was badly worn. I had a spare motor off a Raider 10, so fitted that. Worked but that didn't sound all that good either though the bearing had considerable less wear. Today I decided to swap end plates. "Simple job", methinks. Not quite! Bit of a fight getting the Bendix's off, then a bigger fight getting the brushes to stay put when assembling the motor. You really need two pairs of hands. I've only one pair. After about an hour of silent profanity, I had a complete motor and bench tested it. Much better and refitted. Another annoying issue with the C-125 was it wouldn't idle properly since the engine rebuild. I'd had several goes at it, but just could not get it to keep running on idle. So I've had another go at it and this time it seems to be ok.

Stormin 9,981 #5190 Posted June 12, 2020 Just now, ebinmaine said: Norman what do you think solved the problem? Not sure, Eric. It would idle for a while then stop. I did move the throttle cable a fraction, 1/16", forward where it's clamped to the flywheel cover. Then I reset the mixture screws and throttle stop. Problem solved? Next mowing duty will tell.
WHX?? 48,779 #5191 Posted June 12, 2020 I just happened to stumble on a thread the other day Norm where the Dino had a nice write up on starters with some handy tips. Can't find it to save my rear now tho. He accidentally knackered the magnets but saved it.... Steve? @stevasaurus

Tractorhead 9,064 #5198 Posted June 12, 2020 Have some Seat time today. first i mowed around the House and the field than Kati went back from Shopping with few glasses. she told me she decided to make elderflower juice so i increased my Seattime and collect some Elderflowers along the Forrest. Think i have a need for a Dump Cart to put all the things in next time 😎 On the Way, i do a stop (ride today with the Horse thru the Forrest) at my Buddy‘s property Michael, because they threw honey yesterday. Where i pick few glasses of his fresh Honey. While i do that ride, Kati begins to make the juice At least i do a pressure wash to the Horse and Grease it up. Love the Country life !👍 I dunno what can bring more Fun than do a Dayride together with a Horse. 😁😇 4 3

I would ask the parents nicely to make sure the kids stayed off and they started verbal assaults including language that hurt my delicate ears. Signs didn't help and neither did ropes. I couldn't enjoy the show while constantly policing the thing. 2
