rjg854 11,360 #4052 Posted February 16, 2020 Yesterday I took the 16 auto out of the shed in order to melt the snow out of the blower housing while it sat out in the sunshine. I heard a bang while it sat idling. When I went to move it, it wouldn't move and the belt wasn't spinning. OH NO I wanted to get it back to the shed, so I released the relief valve and I still couldn't push it. I didn't really want to "but" I got chain and the 877 and dragged back to the shed and pushed it into the shed with the plow blade against the blower. One problem solved! Today tore it apart and found this Easy fix with a new belt, checked the pulley, oiled it, put it back together, closed the relief valve, and fired it up. Runs and operates like it should I can see that belt better on my PC than the phone. I don't see any cracks from the outer edge of the belt towards the inner edge. I sold hundreds of that kind of belt. Very unusual for a chunk to come out like that without the entire belt showing cracks everywhere. Maybe something got on a pulley (chunk of ice ect.) I got a piece of a stick in a PTO belt that took out a small chunk. Keep your eyes and ears open next time you run it. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

balconio 606 #4057 Posted February 22, 2020 Getting excited about new shoes for my 312-8. It's Carlisle snow hogs up front (18x6.50-8) and ITP mudlite 2's (25x10-12) for the back. Added gear oil new gasket and compared RJ brake side plate to a Suburban one. Ed Kennell 38,145 #4063 Posted February 24, 2020 I picked up this Tecky powered Raider last week. She runs and drives, but idles like a Tecky. I gave her a double dose of Sea Foam. Hope it clears up her cough. Got the lights and the cigar lighter working. I took advantage of the 60F temps to clean and paint the front wheels. Old playing cards make great masking. balconio 606 #4064 Posted February 25, 2020 I got the tires mounted and tested them out this morning. I'm now able to hop right over downed logs, churn thru mud and snow with ease, and I've got another 1.5" of ground clearance. I never got stuck once and I was really trying. The ride on asphalt is pretty choppy now but I that's a surface I rarely ride on. As an added bonus I didn't have to raise the seat pan at all, the clearance is tight but it's there. balconio 606 #4069 Posted February 27, 2020 I greased all the fittings I could find and adjusted the brakes. I also turned the clutch rod in to change the pedal travel to my liking. I've been out mudding every day this week and I don't intend on stopping anytime soon. I don't know if it's because it has a steering wheel and no suspension, or because it's low revving and heavy but I find riding my trails more relaxing and enjoyable on the tractor than an ATV. Makes 8 acres seem a lot bigger at slower speeds lol. I guess it's like a hardtail chopper vs a sport bike, one has a certain feel and visceral appeal and the other just goes real fast. 2 7 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

When i had mine redone i used motion industry for my bearings,seals and bushings. Mine had the problem of someone took it apart at one time and they never put gaskets between the plates and so i had metal on metal grinding and most of the bearings were stuck. I'm going to take the bowl off of the carburetor and squirt diesel down the sparkplug hole and see if it will spin over and start. pkerot 73 #4074 Posted February 28, 2020 Thank you. I had to push the mower hundreds of feet to the trailer with 4 flat tires so I am tired and quit early today. I got the carburetor off, not bad inside. I put a hot battery on it.The key is in the ignition but nothing happened so I jumped straight to the starter. It spins good.I had taken the sparkplug out. It looks good. I put diesel down the hole and the starter blew it out so compression looks good. The muffler looks good except the seam is cracked. I took it off so I can weld and one of the bolts broke off in the block. So I'll have fun drilling it out. Got stuff to do in the morning but later will clean electrical connections so it turns the starter with the key and check for spark and get you guys some pictures. Rob R 966 #4075 Posted February 28, 2020 (edited) Suggest you put TUBES in the tires going flat I have done this many tires some pretty badly dry rotted and this works great..... suggest you heat the tires with a heat gun or dryer so they are warm then break the bead on both sides pry the valve side past the rim, pop out the existing valve, insert the tube and replace this side under rim.
