Although we installed a new ignition switch(because the old one was smoking when we were cranking it... lol), new spark plug, cleaned up the valves and the head. Now it actually starts right away, not like before when it had to crank for a few revolutions before firing off. Good that you installed a new ign switch. Should I do another spot as well? The body of the voltage regulator should be well grounded. Also that Chevy module should have an extra wire if it vibrates a lot. I have an extra ground from my volt gauge. Another from battery neg to engine block. Can't have too many grounds.... We use salt on the roads, have a humid climate much of the time, and live near the salty ocean. I was told when much younger that if ALL the grounds are in the same place they ALL go bad at the same time. If they're separated into a loop with multiple connections there's a better chance of getting a decent one somewhere... I've often thought doing that Also creates a lot more work and potential for more problems... Without the seal I've seen corrosion in as little as 2 years. Patriot horse was assembled 3 years ago (not by me)and it has had issues already. That'll be up for a re-wiring soon. He has a few more $$$ and I have a the deck I was looking for, so we are both happy. Kevin - my wife and I enjoyed the tour of your collection. I tweaked the choke a bit to help with cold starts... but now that it’s warm I have to wait until tomorrow to see if I did accomplish anything... and the governor seemed to let it run away a bit once in a while, so I double checked that too.
