rjg854 11,361 #829 Posted June 17, 2018 Put a new carburetor on the 73 16 Automatic, even though it already had a new one installed by the PO, now the choke works like it should. Before I changed it, it looked like it was being choked, because the control handle was up. Then I rewired the tractor from bow to stern. The wires had lots of splices and black tape connections. Many of the wires were just brittle and stiff. The lights didn't work, and actually the front light bucket and lens was missing altogether. The PO was nice enough to have provided those parts when I bought it so it was just a matter of putting it all in and wired. There's only one thing left to do and that's change the idler pulley for the drive belt. It's almost gone, wobbling back and forth and rattling. Should have that in the mail tomorrow. Then maybe I'll be happy for awhile with all the bugs worked out. I may do a little painting on it, seeing someone has already done some touch up. Might a well make it look nice seeing the PO even supplied me with a complete set of decals from "redo your horse" (shameless plug for Terry) 6 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Goldann520 241 #830 Posted June 19, 2018 (edited) Well, this is more like what have to your horse in the last month, but finally the 312-8 Is done. 4 new turfs, new seat, scraped and painted the underside of deck, sharpened and balanced blades, re-cemented the leaking wheel weights, fixed the taillights, along with the electric lift, slot hitch, fuel line, headlight bezels, and I'm out of breath.
