My initial guess is dirty flame sense or faulty board.  It fires up, runs, goes out.  The “house” blower runs constant on this unlike a home squirrel cage, so heat comes through a little at a time, but the burner is constantly going through ignition cycles until the T-stat is satisfied.

I won’t rule that out, but we have not had vermin problems in the camper.  We do a pretty good job preventing that.  Bugs?  Yeah they are everywhere.

The spring ritual when we were still doing the camper thingy.     Clean the spider webs out of the furnace, hot water heater and stove.

So, After many delays & other projects getting priority etc.... I Finally Got Ol' Cyclops Running & Now that there is No Snow to speak of the blade is mounted & operational. I had to remove side plates & pull lots of stuff apart to get the rust & corrosion removed from the ends of the shaft that raises & lowers the deck & the blade. It was definitely worth the trouble, time & effort. put a dab of grease on the ends of the shaft for some lubricant & it really makes a huge difference in how easily the blade goes up n down now. I also cleaned up the rectifier as it had lots of white rust on it. Obviously it being the original, I want it to be able to disipate heat & last as long as possible. I am Not a fan of this Plastic fender that is for certain. So making the new 1 from diamond plate is on the priority list. I bought an entire New Ignition system for it but in my haste I tried it as soon as I replaced & set the points. Wouldn't ya know it, That Kohler took right off like it Never missed a beat. I didn't need to do Anything to the carburator at all. I did clean the fuel tank, add a couple filters, replaced the fuel line & the fuel pump. I stole the seat from the 257-H as it is in pieces for now but it works. I need to replace the transmission seals as they All Leak but for now I will just keep checking the oil so I do not run it dry. It needs several other things such as the engine isolators (motor mounts) they are super hard & no longer plyable so it needs some TLC yet. But I am Really Impressed with this thing. the blade will come in handy to level out some areas of the yard & where the sidewalk meets the grass & is over grown etc. here are some pics to enjoy. I am really Impressed with Kohler now. Gotta clean up that 48" deck, fill the holes, replace the belt Check all the bearings n spindles as We will soon be mowing weekly. New front tires are on the way & looking for better set for the rears as well. I get to get rid of the ol' Crapsman LT1000 now which makes me very happy.

Today on this finally 50 degree day, I fixed my driveway and with a mix of raking and plowing, put it back where it is supposed to be. The 312 and 308 got a workout. I also got the spare Kohler painted up, and put back together but still need to get the motor mount welded back on. It’s a bunch of random pics but it was a productive day.

@Red Stallion Just to be clear, As long as it will bond to metal you could use whatever spray paint is handy for gloss or satin black. It doesn’t need to be Rustoleum. My local hardware store carries it, and the ACE brand for not a ton of money. That’s why I use it. I’ve heard some of the brands here are ridiculously expensive when imported there, so again you can use what you have easy access to.

Yeah, I started with Rustoleum, so I thought I would stick with it. Luckily it's not a special import for a change! It's readily available at my local Bunnings... (or Hammer Mart as the kids call it)

I'm not overly pleased with it, as other have said it takes forever to cure, but that could also be my technique since I don't claim to be a spray painting guru. I'm sure in 6 months time I won't care so much.

I do find plain old Dulux will go on smoother and cure in a fraction of the time, but it's a bit late now to change horse in the race.

It's likely not your technique at fault.

It's a decent paint overall for the long term but it has no hardener like a gun paint can. It has to air cure.

My BBT/ Trina/ Paint Department is very good at laying out a spray with good results. It still has to set for an honest 2 months before it's even close to scratch resistant.

Rustoleum can lay down a very nice finish as evident with my Suburban hood from a while back.

But that dry time is nuts. Yesterday I rattle canned the Dino dash and I tried something @squonk suggested. After the final is sprayed immediate coat it with Rusty gloss clear. It works! The dry time was just a fraction of what it usually is. I've never had any luck with clear topcoats but I've always done it after the base coat is dry.

As far as scratch resistance long term, I don't know. But the finish quality is great and if nothing else it will lessen the time bugs have to embed themselves on it. The main sheetmetal parts will be sprayed with a gun and Rusty with hardener. :)

@ebinmaine @953 nut and @Racinbob Lately I've been using ACE brand spray paint exclusively. It has a dry time of 2 hrs. I usually let it set for a few hours before touching it. It seems to be good so far. I bought a pistol grip handle for the spray cans I use which works excellent. The control you have where the paint will go, compared to just pressing the nozzle is confidence building.

Sam Pasch’s Horses

both horses are back home now for the year. I hate picking up on projects that I started months ago as I now can’t remember where I put the float bowl for the 867. I figure it may be time for a carb rebuild anyway so I’ll just get a new bowl. That tractor desperately needs a bath too.

Ok..... So I really dislike tha plastic fender that Cyclops came with.... So Much in fact that I Started making a new 1.I made the base from the lid of a Brinkman Smoker I no longer need as We have a much Better Unit on the patio. The rest of it will be fabricated from this sheet of Diamond Plate Steel I aquired for free many years ago. After 9 hours of using a various sized "Swing Wrenches" (hammers), C clamps, vise grips, an air hammer, unistrut & the tongue of my trailer I got the basic shape & the angles are good. so tomorrow get out the plasma cutter & welder to make this thing happen.

Also the scAmazombie Delivery guy dropped a box at the door. New front tires for Cyclops. So gonna have to do some sandblasting n painting for this occasion. That & I can hardly wait to see how Cool it's gonna look with these way Cool Stamped Chrome Hub Caps all the way around !!C145newseatpanbase5.jpeg.ede6e59d88059afd4bb1240940190546.jpeg

Got the Angles just right & need to cut the slope in yet.probably have some more hammereringing to do in order to flatten things but It's gonna work Nicely. Gonna Have to get a New seat for the New Fender....  & Definitely gonna have a cup holder built in too. Very pleased with the progress of late. :USA: Choochin' Right Along....

should be 7 pix for your enjoyment.

Edit: Also Need to cut 3 larger Holes for the Gas cap, Transmission Oil Dipstick & the seat safety switch along with the mounting holes for bolts & a set of seat brackets.... Ok I am tired .... time for bed.

Get a steel one. Briggs has a replacement that's a direct fit.

@Bill D might have the part number handy

@BBQVultureWings great work metal working!  If you find that you don’t enjoy the outcome, just know that a steel C series or 3/4/500 cerise fender will bolt right up.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

Thank You. I just dont want to spend a lot of money when I can make something from free materials. I looked around a little bit for another fender but I plan on keeping Cyclops a while so I might as well do some custom work to it. Diamond Plate is Always "a Hit" where ever ya put it & I got really lucky a few years back when I scored that 4' x 6' sheet for free. Yaaaaaay Me.

Gonna go bust out the PLasma cutter for the 1st time. I have a lot to do so More later

So, Santa was nice enough to drop off a small plasma cutter for Moo-Wah back at Christmas.... my first attempt with said macine didn't go so well (see the tip in the pic lol). Air pressure was way off but once I got that figured out the process was fun n easy. Cut the slope & then lots of grinding. tomorrow it's Diamond Plate pieces & hopefully some welding. Definitely headed for Ye Ol; Neighborhood Machine Shop tomorrow to sandblast the Rimz so I can repaint them. Should be able to get quite a bit done tomorrow. Weather people say blizzrd :auto-swerve: cornditions for Wednesday with as much as 9" possible. It's been unseasonably warm the past couple weeks so the snow will just make for a temporary mess. But I will get try the blade out finally.... Sometimes progress is slow but there is finally some progress. more pics to enjoy.....
