So did you make a simple puller to remove the flywheel?

I got lucky with a harmonic balancer remover. Just needed to have some courage to wind it up proper.

Still used the obligatory squirt with penetrant and a couple of taps to break the seal, but having said that, the taper didn't have any signs of corrosion or binding.

(Which reminds me I still need to put 50ft lbs of torque on the bolt)

When removing a flywheel with a harmonic balancer puller I have found that hitting the end of the puller screw a couple times after it is under tension tends to pop the flywheel off its taper.

That is exactly what I did. Tension, plus penetrant, couple of love taps, more tension, time, penetrant, then rattle gun.

Came off way easier than I was expecting. Unlike the clutch in my chainsaw which is truly siezed on.

Strange. That's an RJ foot pedal and the trans arm is an RJ set up as well.

I'd be interested in the foot rests, my 400 doesn't have any

Started re-assembling my 520HC enough to turn over the engine (after some noodle scratching and forgetting that thr safety switches all work now).

Just ordered a new set of decal stickers to I can freshen them up once I'm finished painting.

Starting to get to the fun bit now!

If you are using rattle can paint be sure to let it cure for thirty days or more before applying the decals. Spray paint tends to off-gas for several weeks and would loose adhesion if covered too soon.

We were told it was a suburban… I’m by far an expert in the models. I’ll message you.

I'd say longer.

Our experience shows us that a rattle can paint takes a

>>> minimum <<<

2 to 4 months to CURE.

It certainly looks like a Suburban with the front axle and hood that's on it. I was just making an observation

Yeah, I'm using the Rustoleum red cans and I'm a bit disappointed in how slow it is to cure, even in the baking Australian summer heat. It's taken a week to get what I consider to be handling cured, but still feels tacky, and if I'm not careful it will stick to whatever it's touching once it's warm.

Also the decals will probably take a few weeks to get to me from the US, so no chance of rushing them on!

Having said all this, I'm not looking for showroom condition. Just to give is a little birthday to make it look 20yrs old instead of 30.

Rustoleum

I introduced my Paint Department AKA BBT/ Trina to Rust-Oleum 2X for her first restoration back in 2017(?)

She's used it on ALL of our full or partial restorations since.

I dunno... 8 or 10 tractors?

It's decent for a spray can but definitely requires patience to handling.

Spray Rustoleum clear when the final color coat is still wet. You can handle it in 2 hours.

I'm finding that now. Once the clear coat went on it felt more cured. Probably wishful thinking, but I'll run with that.

Which one Mike or does it matter?

Universal High Gloss

2x Ultra Cover

Stops Rust Crystal Clear

I'm going to try that next week if the forecast holds true.

A good wet coat or just a light coat to let it mix with the wet red?

This is the old label. It's what I use:

7701-830 RUSTOLEUM CLEAR SPRAY | TWPerry

I believe they changed it to this now:

Rust-Oleum Custom 5-in-1 Gloss Clear Enamel Spray Paint 12oz

I put the last coat of color on set the can down and pick up the clear and spray it immediately just like I sprayed the color coat. Then another coat of clear 10 -15 later.

Just get a piece of scrap metal and try it first.

That's the type I use in the Regal red. I can't say I've warmed up to the new nozzles though. I'm figuring on rattle can for the Dino dash so I can get it installed and have some proper steering as I wait for the opportunity to spray the major sheet metal parts. I'm going to try my hand with a HVLP sprayer and Rusty Regal with hardener for those. I made a half hearted attempt at getting the steering will roll pin out but wasn't giving up easily so I'll just cover it. :)

Lucky there's 5 nozzles cause the small round ones clog pretty quick.

Today I started working on my 414.  Raided the heating oil, then drained, flushed, & filled the transmission. Water & froth in it was responsible for that look, not metal.

I replaced the blown headlight & it's working twin with LEDs.  They are BRIGHT! (Sorry for the messy shop.)

Ordered an NGK plug to replace the Champion.  Bought oil to change it.

Much more to do, this is just a start.

Tomorrow, after picking up a '73 frame, disassemble & clean carb.

Yoooboyzz should see our local barn and workshop space right now. Actually the shed too.

Whereas the Trina momma is soon to be here we've put the basement remodeling in high gear ⚙️  and the other three as "toss-it-there" mode.

Oh.

My.

Word.

Whattamess.....

The uh, NOT so functional side of the shop...

Can I interest anyone in my mom's old mangle & chair? 😉
