What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

If memory serves me correctly, it is a K181S. Can the experts out there verify this?

Yes K181S 30108D which is an automatic compression release engine. If you decide you need another engine look at the spec no. on the one you get. If you get a Suffix A instead of a D the engine will be a spark advance style engine. It may be hard to spin over on occasion. 1965 was the last year for that style. If you have all of the sheet metal, brackets and generator still you can bolt on any 8HP Wh Kohler and have it look stock. I currently have a 76 B-80 engine on my 65 875 and it looks like it was always on there.

If you have a good battery and your starter generator is in good shape, these start right up. (Hooray!)

If not, it’ll simply not turn over against the compression of the engine! (Sigh)

perhaps a wellness check by local police would be in order...? We had a neighbor a few years back spend a couple days on the floor after a fall unbeknownst to anyone... ultimately passed away...

That happened to my Mother at 97 years of age. My middle sister found her on the kitchen floor right near the side door. They think she was there for 2 days. She went in the Hospital then Hospice and celebrated her 97 th and passed a few days later.   GREAT IDEA Jim    :bow-blue:

My last K181 was the spark-advance version and it would occasionally stop in the hard spot and it would just slip the belt, so I'd get my steel toes int here and give the pulley on the other side a nudge to get her moving.

Thankfully when that one left this life Brian hooked me up with a low-hours compression relief version. The starting characteristics are different, but I much prefer it.

Installed the muffler stack today and a new shifter boot.  Getting ready to sand blast the mower deck and paint it.  I figured I would start with that before I work on the tractor tins.  That way If it doesn't look good I won't care as much.  Learning as I go.  I still need to make a brace for muffler and may shorten how tall it goes.  I had a piece of 8 inch so I used that for now.

Using a T with a plug at the bottom is a good idea, I did that on one a couple years ago.

I think I saw yours done that way in another thread and thought that would work.  Still deciding on if I want to kick it forward a bit.  It clears the pto but would be better with a 45 forward.  Gonna drill and tap the plug to mount a brace to it.  Gonna clean the carb today and sandblast the mower deck if it doesn’t rain. I have a cheap harbour freight sandblaster.

I got the 854 all straightened out and it runs and drives. Tested out the light that we put on the 854. Put our new Deestone Tri ribs on the 854. Rebuilt the s/g on the 702. Also, when the hood on an 854 starts steaming how much longer till it is done?

Can you elaborate on this?

Nice work!  Never noticed the grenade shifter handles.  Pretty cool idea and obviously fitting of the rig!  I like it!

On a side note all these snow plowing pics are making me jealous.  We have one more chance for some snow here in OK in a few days.  Fingers crossed

LOL!  Not sure were close enough for the wife to buy the "going to help out a neighbor for a bit" line.  Would be fun though...in the meantime keep posting pics!

We got about 10" total. Very fluffy. All plowed out now.

It is 80 degrees here today and sunny.

Not exactly normal for this time of year, but just crazy how different a few hundred miles makes!

Currently 27⁰

We aren't scheduled to go above freezing at any point in the next 11 days.

At least 2 more plowable snows in that time too.

No arguments there. That's why I am not opposed to mowing in the dark!
