We've seen that a few times over the years.

Up here we have almost no Lake Effect snows. Every once in a while we get a bit of enhancement from Sebago Lake but not on any regular basis like @1940willys

Our is more like "Mountain Effects" where the storms will actually stall against the hills and just DUMP snow or rain in some areas.

If everything passes, the annual Pa inspection cost is normally $70.   $35 for mechanical, brakes, tires, exhaust, lights etc.    and $35 for the emissions test.

The sad part is, the emissions test is only required for several counties  along the  border  near Pittsburg, Philadelphia, Baltimore Md., Wilmington, Delaware and Trenton, NJ.

I happen to be in one of these Counties 40 mile from Baltimore.

I lived my first 37 years in Nebraska.  Great beef if you eat that.   Nice zoo, Same obese humans as everywhere.  not worth a visit.

NO inspection there except commercial vehicles.  They are pretty particular about the dually dump truck etc etc.  Over this weight big deal...Under this weight vehicle just regulatory. nonsense!

I am seemingly the only person who resided there that cared about preventative maintenance.   The mind can race about the things that can be on the highway.  Been a first responder.  Pay attention please!

I moved to NC in 2013.  Personal vehicle inspection seemed odd and like many things it can be exploited. I cannot be exploited.  Many other wonderful folks can be.

My point.. IDK where it gets cold and salty probably (question mark) a good idea to have another set of eyes on the rotten junk rolling around at speed on the roads???

AND pay attention.  We all have to all the days we are here!  Many are not:deadhorse:

We got 9-10" of snow yesterday and last night.  I used my GT-1848 to plow the driveway, which is about 150-200 feet with a loop at the end. Started out with just Ag rears with weights, but was slipping too much so I pulled into the garage and put the chains on - much better. No pictures today, maybe I'll take a few tomorrow.

I'm concerned about my hydro though. It was around 20-25* and it took at least 15-20 minutes to warm up enough to lift the plow and move forward/backward consistently.  Oil level is fine, but I've never changed it and it's probably very old.  I do have a spare Eaton 1100, which I'm not too worried about swapping if I need to.  What is the normal warmup time for these?

Took a couple of pictures - tractor resting in garage, no more snow since plowing.  Next time I'm out I plan to buy some 10w-30 synthetic and do a complete oil change in the trans. If that doesn't help, I guess I'll swap the trans. Maybe after it gets a bit warmer, going down into single digits this week.

I wouldn't panic on that transmission just yet.  If it didn't lose power when plowing it's probably fine.  Change the oil and filter and see what happens.  I saw a post on here years ago where a member put 0W-30 in his transmission for winter use.  Not sure if that's a good idea or not, others can chime in.  I use Mobile 1  10W-30 in all my hydros.

Yeah, smells nasty. I left mine propped up so it can drip all day. I want ALL of that water/gear oil combo out of it!

Are you going to flush yours out?  I usually fill mine with used oil and a little gas mixed in and roll it around the garage then drain again, then fill with new gear oil.  Just curious to hear what others do

Diesel drive-it-around flush but I’m fortunate that I have a hazardous material drop off that will take both the contaminated oil and the flushed diesel (in separate, labeled containers). Service stations and oil change places will typically NOT take this stuff because the re-refiners that recycle their used oil will refuse it.

@ebinmaine @Handy Don  are you guys saying you use straight diesel and drive it?  If so, how long do you drive it that way?  I wouldn't have thought to use anything without some kind of oil mixed in.  I can see it flushing out and draining nice though

Yes, but only for maybe 5 minutes and with no load. Time to go into every gear and make some tight circles in each directions (to exercise the differential).

BTW, I would NOT do this on a 6-speed LSD transaxle, since there are metal-on-metal friction parts in there that don’t deserve the extra wear.

That's what most guys use. I despise the smell of diesel fuel so I use Motor Metic Motor Flush. Since it was on the bench I spun it with a drill, let it sit overnight, spun again and drained.

There was no water in this transmission and the oil was deep black. It came out pretty clean.
