This is on a 36” geared RD deck but the principle is the same for the 42” belt RD. I used ordinary stainless hardware--round headed hex socket screws with flanged nylock nuts @Handy Don Oh, ok it’s basically a flap that covers the outlet.

It’s only to corral the clippings a bit farther out from the deck and to redirect them downward. It also helps keep the acorns from flying too far The mounting holes were already there in the deck housing. I used big box store vinyl cove base left over from a project--thankfully a decent color!

I’ll look around tomorrow as I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve got the rubber inner tube/vinyl molding that could be used for that somewhere…

There was a bolted-on extension from WH for one 36” belt RD that I came across, but I’ve never seen one for any other deck.

As you begin to enjoy different attachments on your tractors, your subconscious will begin to want more and more of the cool stuff to hang on your tractor. It is a dreadful addiction. Wheelhorseitis (among many other names) is a terrible condition. Only awareness can stop it. This is how it starts. Next you’ll find yourself enjoying the smell of new tires and fresh paint. In the last stages, you’ll begin fabricating and modifying. That’s when you realize that the damage is done. The only bummer to having lots of Tractors is maintaining the batteries and trying to keep the Mice out ....! 5

There was only one instance within the last 10 years or so I’ve had any mice get in. @kpinnc yes, my father has come up with a few good ways to deter them. If I ever get any I’ll try some of those methods.
ML3 1,193 #22133 Posted October 12 Although it might be early unfortunately I put tractors away for winter. Fuel drained, batteries removed, etc. Just got too much going on with work & my elderly parents needing more help. Once leaves really start to accumulate I'll take mower deck off 654 & install plow. I'll mow with Troy Bilt 33 walk behind- it mulches. Winter project is my dad's Bultaco motorcycle in pics. He bought it new in 1970 when he came home from Vietnam. Hasn't run in bout 35yrs however it was properly stored in his basement. Should be easy to get running & only will need a few small things cosmetically. My goal is to have it completed by spring time. I'd like my dad to be able to ride it one last time. 3 5

Not many like that around!!! I grew up remembering my dad having Bultacos, Ossas, & Hodakas. He also had an El Bandito 360 that he used to race. He gave that one to my nephew. Dad asked me 1st if it was OK. My nephew is doing a no expense restoration on it. That model there was only about 700 made over 3yrs. I wanted the Bultaco he bought new so I ended up with the El Matador. It's a sentimental thing. The El Bandito he bought used. It was ridden hard from racing. Sparky-(Admin) 21,314 #22136 Posted October 13 Dropped a really tall “standing-dead” ash tree yesterday…GT-1600 hauled it all after cutting up to the front yard to be picked up. 9

MainelyWheelhorse 421 #22141 Posted October 14 @Handy Don Today, I finally got around to building the flap. I went the length of the opening and 7 inches tall. It works well for the little I have used it. Rubber inner tube is what I used and stainless bolts lock washers and steel fender washers hold it on. 2

I have access to metalworking equipment and that doesn’t look too difficult to fab up if my inner tube flap fails.

mrc 812 #22146 Posted October 15 hello all, here we have a roached out 312-8. giving it to a friend. i changed the axle seals as they were leaking. installed a new shifter boot. the gear oil was rusty. drained that. filled the tranny with kerosene and drove around the neighborhood. drained the kerosene and filled with fresh gear oil. changed the engine oil. greased the machine, including the nearly dry pto bearing. air filter was ok. new fuel line and filter front to back. had to replace the left footboard as it was crumbling (very rusty) with a better one from my stash. installed a draw bar from my stash too. not pretty but with a deck i have he should be good to go for mowing next year. regards mike 9

cleat 5,910 #22148 Posted October 16 No ash trees left around here either. Most of the elms are dead as well (the next generation after the original dutch elm disease wiped most of them out years ago). It is sad to drive around and see all the dead trees everywhere. Fortunately most of the trees on my property are maples and are healthy.

Fortunately most of the trees on my property are maples and are healthy. We have only a small percentage of ash on our acreage. Roughly 70% beech. A mix of maple oak and some evergreens after that. Ash trees here won't be around long either unfortunately. Elm and chestnut has been gone for decades... 2
JCD 59 #22150 Posted October 17 Well not today but over the last week I replaced the pto assembly, put in a new starter and a new solenoid, not bad for someone who is not mechanically inclined. Starts right up and everything seems to work just fine for now. Jim 5
