I never really thunk of that. Actually a good idea, because it doesn’t take much weight to raise the nose of a wheel horse. Now I gotta drag the welder back out…

This is the one I'll be using. 

It's from a 2008 Pontiac G3. Wittle bitty car.  

That's Trina's not very large hand.

I know from past experience that I can put that handle in a battery powered drill to raise/lower the jack quickly.

I reanimated the C160 after it sat for a few weeks.  Y’all are no doubt familiar with the old “turned the key and nothing happened” gag.  Now, the starter worked when I hot wired it and it ran fine.  Now I’m not great with wiring, but I went all through that thing, even bypassing all the safety wiring and then hooking up another solenoid.  Having fixed nothing, I restored everything to its original condition and did one last check with my testing light - confirming that everything appeared to be continuous.  No go.  At my wits’ end, I opted for the last remaining option I could think of; I got a hammer and whacked the solenoid, turned the key again and…

It fired right up!

So I guess my spare solenoid is junk, but my hammer still works great.

Boss in my first job out of college was a former Air Force avionics tech for fighter planes. He introduced me to the “brogan adjustment” techs sometimes used. Many of you know brogans are the heavy lace-up boots worn by the U.S. military in WWII and later. The thought of “fixing” a fighter plane this way, and then letting the pilot go fly it, made me shiver.

This  750 hour non running 310-8 that I bought for $175 had evidence the PO used the hammer on the starter to get her running for quite a while.

 

A few checks with the VOM showed the problem was in a fuse holder.  Added a waterproof fuse holder and it has run fine ...even with an abused starter.    I'm guessing the vibration from the PO pounding on the starter was enough to connect the worn fuse holder until one day it failed to work.  So, I get a cheap roller with a great 42"SD.

I've had this 1267 up for sale for a while. Had about 30 inquiries on FBMP but nobody would commit to even coming to look. Finally a guy from the snow belt said he wanted to come ASAP. He's been wanting a WH or an old Cadet for a while. Took one look and said "I want it! " Then started asking about attachments. I said I had a snow blower that I was thinking about selling as we haven't gotten snow in 3 years. Plus I have the PK Loader and an Ariens walk behind. Showed him the Tall Shoot and he said how much? Shot him a price and he said OK.  I had to get it mounted up so I can show him how it goes on. I had to build the PTO pulley out of parts as the pulley on it was for a 1/2" belt and the blower uses a 5/8".

The PO of my 312-8 did the same thing to the starter. Once it was running after jumping the solenoid with a screwdriver it ran good as well. 40$ later from Amazon and the starter was good. I haven’t had a problem with the fuse holder yet though.

I’m not planning to make a habit of that.  It was a last act of desperation, probably inspired by recent news of the 50th anniversary of Happy Days and that jukebox the Fonz used to whack to make it work.  It sure did make some sweet music pour out of the pipe of that K341 though!

Spent the day yesterday working on getting some stuff cleaned up out of the driveway before the leaves fall. I got some of the herd put up for winter too. Trying to get wheelhorse_kid to put projects that he didn’t get to away now before it snows.

It’s from Harbor Freight. I got the idea from Don’s (@Lee1977) build. Works very well!

Not my Wheel Horse, but there is a C-141 with a deck, plow, chains, and weights outside the local hardware store.  It is on consignment for $1100.  Seems a little steep to me.  It has been there for about a year.  Poor thing is fading in the weather.

 

Part of me says make make an offer and save it.  The other part of me says that I have more than enough projects already, and no place to keep it or time to work on it.

In average condition with STEEL weights that's about what the individual pieces would fetch is sold separately. 

 

As a package it's worth a fair amount less....

Like I said the other day we put some stuff away over the weekend. My 2 rj-58’s, 753, and 603. Plus my oldest son’s all original 856. The last piece of the puzzle is Wheelhorse_kid’s 604 up top. Plus he has 2 small engines (Briggs and Stratton WMB and a Continental) up there along with my spare Kohler K90. This is the beefed up version of what I have had for years. It helps get some out of the way. It’s nice to have my garage back. I have plenty of projects I’d like to work on in there lol.

The BBT and her Momma spent several hours processing firewood. 

They brought some up from the area behind the garden, split that, then stacked it. 

 

 

 

 

I worked on a few different things in the big barn and basement. 

Got another Kohler carb in the ultrasonic cleaner. 

Got the yard trailer lift mechanism bolted on. 

Got the road trailer in the barn for repairs too. That'll be getting a new front ball receiver, lift jack, and spring bushings with bolts. 

Also started working on a pair of plates for my hub puller. I'll post those in "Tools".

 

Several tractors got to move around and stretched their legs a bit.
