953 nut 55,290 #21776 Posted July 23 (edited) I just celebrate the rust and patina or sand it down and paint it, I did the WD-40 and steel wool trick once and it wasn't too bad though. Edited July 23 by 953 nut

SylvanLakeWH 25,596 #21779 Posted July 23 (edited) WD-40 - a bit if history: https://www.wd40.com/history/ We all use it in ways never imagined when it was designed... Edited July 23 by SylvanLakeWH 2
Lee1977 6,663 #21780 Posted July 23 I would sand it and paint it if it was mine. Might try the heat and paraffin on the Kohler screen of the 312-8 I got from my friend the penetrating isn't working. Got to shift some tractors around so I can take it apart with out blocking the others. It was parked in a shed that the roof was damage for years before my friend got it. It Now I just have to find the paraffin, modified the cabinet it was in and don't remember where I put it.

Lee1977 6,663 #21785 Posted July 23 I walked by and found it on my drawing board with some canning lids that was in the same cabinet. Franklin is just a bit too far, but I have been there. I was driving a 88 Ford conversion van If my my memory is some what still working Highway 2__ was paved, but across the mountain was dirt with switch-backs. Had to keep the speed up as the turn on the switch back the right rear wheel was off the ground. Guess that Highway is all paved now. 2

It's sat in lacquer thinner in the ultrasonic cleaner for 9 or 10 days. Soaking. Every day or two I would run the machine for a cycle or two morning and night or whatever. This afternoon I took it out and ran a can of brake clean all around it and through it and next to it and up down left right in out of it etc etc. That'll do..... 1
