I thought that was a little high so I stopped in at two more places, both charged the same thing. I’m pretty lucky.I have a place local that will dismount and remount all 4 for 25.00. 1

WHGuy413 2,683 #21629 Posted July 3 Finally got the free to me 14-8 out of the garage under its own power. She’s rough looking but solid. I completely rewired it (if you know me you know I absolutely hate electrical so this was a major step for me) installed a good starter I had since it was missing it’s own, new starter solenoid, cleaned the carb and points and got it running. Last night I slid the 42” deck that came on grandpas 416-h on. It’s the nicer of the 2 42” decks I have. Mowed great for the whole yard until…. Out pops the right spindle. Looks like my grandfather made a repair at some point in its life. Now to try my luck at welding. Those skills are worse than my electrical skills. Boy that 14hp drinks gas. Couldn’t do the full 2 1/2 acres on one tank where my sons 12hp and my 18hp vanguards still have a 1/4 tank left. thinking of trying my hand at wet sanding and seeing what’s left of color if anything. 2 8

It's extremely important to remember with welding as with painting, the job is 95% preparation. Almost none of it is actual welding. 44 minutes ago, WHGuy413 said: Boy that 14hp drinks gas. My 16s sure do. 44 minutes ago, WHGuy413 said: thinking of trying my hand at wet sanding and seeing what’s left of color if anything. We've been processing thoughts on doing the same thing here.

Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #21632 Posted July 3 Found my spare plow angle lever (we all have a spare angle lever right??) . Installed it on the new 42” plow I was given that was missing the lever. Some acoustic ceiling tie wire was perfect to use from the squeeze handle to the triangle thingy , works perfectly now! 1

Thre wire from campaign signs, left abandoned after election season, works for this as well. 1
8ntruck 6,999 #21638 Posted July 4 I don't have a spare angle lever. What I needed recently was a spare pin to connect the lift link to the lift arm on the tractor. This is a short pin, not commonly found in the parts drawers in the hardware stores. Got a replacement pin and a spare - just have to chop them to proper length and drill the hairpin hole.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #21639 Posted July 4 Pulled the carb for the zillionth time (ok twice today and maybe two other times) . Also cut in an in-line fuel filter. Cleaned, reassembled and seems to be running great now. Hopefully it stays that way!

Todays fuels are hard on fuel lines also, hard to keep all the drugs out of them carbs.

We're at a point where replacing or cleaning the entire fuel system is a necessity of maintenance.

Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #21646 Posted July 5 And like the rest of you I save everything. So I have one but it’s part of an unmolested wiring harness off a 312 Magnum powered tractor. Really don’t wanna “chop it up”

ML3 1,203 #21648 Posted July 5 Got the Brinley hitch I bought at the big show on the 953. This weekend there's a large antique engine & tractor show near me. Plan to go tomorrow. Just deciding what tractor to take????? My car can only really tow 1 tractor. Mostly I'm going there cause I'm looking for a hit/miss engine. 2
