As mentioned previously, I brought my '92 520H into a dealer for a tune up and to resolve the surging at idle. Spoke with them today and they said the estimate to fix along with changing filters, plug, oil and hydro fluid is going be $1300. They said most of that cost is the carb kit that will be hard to find and is not cheap. Overkill and a ripoff to pay that kind of fee. Will take to a local small engine repair shop and see what their estimate is

Sounds like they don’t really know what they’re doing.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,324 #21578 Posted June 28 Dug out my 77 B-80/8speed today. She has never run well on the Chinesium/Amazon carburetor. At the big show last week K&B Wheel Horse Parts had rebuilt carbs with brass floats for every motor imaginable. Snagged one for this Kohler 8, installed it this afternoon and she is running sweet! @76c12091520h 4

That carb kit isn't even remotely difficult to find.... 4

That muffler looks quite a fair amount better.
squonk 41,145 #21581 Posted June 28 Got the holes drilled and the exhaust lined up on the 551. The Kohler is shorter than the Tecky so the stock holes don't work. Trying out an " air gap " heat shield arrangement. It didn't take long to cook my leg at the show with no shield on it! 9

Sparky-(Admin) 21,324 #21586 Posted June 29 Swapped the seat out on the 857. I know it’s not original but it’s in better shape and is plenty comfy mounted up in the small U shaped springs. I’m long legged so I appreciate the added height which gives me a bit more leg room. Gave the seat pan a Flood Penetrol treatment as well. 3

Andy N. 2,154 #21592 Posted June 30 (edited) Got the running fleet out today to stretch and take some pics! Also got the hood back on the Suburban after some crack repairs and got it running again with a new glass bowl. Unfortunately I did this after I put the rest of them away so it didn't make the fleet pic. IMG_5170.mp4 Edited June 30 by Andy N. 1
squonk 41,145 #21593 Posted June 30 Wired up a kill switch and adjusted the throttle and governor on the K90 551. Short road test proved the double heat shield worked well. Recoil is off as it needs a new handle.

ML3 1,212 #21599 Posted June 30 Some short videos of 953 running w/new stack. One is bout 1/2 throttle & other is full throttle. Definitely happy with my purchase. Didn't want tractor to be loud. 20240630_140206.mp4 20240630_140137.mp4 20240630_140108.mp4 1
Sparky-(Admin) 21,324 #21600 Posted June 30 Buddy of mine (Cub Cadet guy) that lives a couple towns over texts me that there’s a WH plow in the metal dumpster at his transfer station. He snagged it for me and I picked it up today “free” Real nice 42” long frame plow and the plow edge isn’t ground down!! Missing the angle handle but I have a spare one here. 5
