Are you gonna get some studs in there for reinstallation?

Soooooo much easier to set the wheel in place.

I was waitin’ for someone to bring that up.

I added a socket to the camp tractor because there is no electricity there. Mowing time is charging time!

I am thinking about buying a charger 12, but it has no engine, and was wondering if I could put a predator engine in it. I've done it to my no name and it works fine, but I hear the charger 12 has a hydrostatic transmission and was wondering if that would get in the way.

The hydro in a Charger is going to need more HP.  The 6 hp predator is not enough.  I believe they make  a 13 hp 420 cc engine .. That would be adequate.

So it is possible? I just wasn't sure if I could with the pulleys and stuff, I haven't seen it yet. Or any charger 12 for that matter.

Yes the 420 will work fine. We have one here with a 420 predator. Although I’d rather see an original engine in there. The 420 does have enough power for the hydraulics to lift the deck etc.. and drive the tractor.

Where could I find an original engine? And it would be more expensive of course, but how expensive would the original engine be?

I agree with Tony.

I'd even go so far as to say I'm "anti" (any cheapo modern engine).

There's VERY little likelihood one of those will ever be in a tractor owned by Trina or me.

Cost of a correct engine can vary quite a bit.

Complete running older Kohler engines can be found easily for $200-$400.

Often the best way to find one is get a whole tractor that has other issues and dismantle that.

LOTS of people won't even try to repair anything nowadays so nearly complete machines are tossed aside for minor needs.

Try contacting ALL your local salvage yards.

ALL the local small engine repair shops.

Mention it to anyone around who's known to take metal scrap for recycling.

It can be done.

In fact once you've gotten your name out around you may even have people coming to YOU.

Several of us here on Redsquare have had locals give us tractors or equipment over the years.

We often also buy/swap/barter/gift amongst ourselves for whatever one another needs or has a thing for.

Become a Redsquare Supporter.

Keep posting and paying close attention to the model(s) you like or want.

Be patient.

In late 2016 or early 17 I got my first tractor. A B80.

Spring of 17 Trina got her first.  She has a well deserved reputation as a ridiculously hard worker and we've now done 4 full frame off restorations and several mechanical restorations.

We've had several whole tractors .. given to one of us because the previous owners wanted simply to see what she'd do with them.

Make it happen for yourself too......

😊

@Tractorhead what is the story on the muffler on your 'massacre mower' machine?  Looks like it might have been one of your projects.

Any details on how you built it?

Transmission I bought at the big show. Started working on it. Using it in my rat rod Suburban. Transmission I got w/tractor was shot- full of water. Still have some parts to strip off the old/bad transmission.

@ML3   like the LUCAS CLIMBING GEAR LUBE , tried it on one horse , now in all 3 of them ,  very quiet / smooth , also put a tye wrap just above the inside greased shifter boot , on the metal shifter stick , holds it in place , makes them last , pete

Yap, was one of my Projects.

when i started the Engine swap, i find the Original Muffler on this Engine too Trashy for a nice looking it should be an

typical pipe up in the Air.

After porting the Outlet and ad bigger exhaust valve on the Engine, i more have also the need for a little bigger Exhaust.

Sadly not much picts, but i hope a simple description is enough.

on my horse was a half rotten mini muffler pepperbox on, but that sounds for me too flat.

i like to have a deeper and more voluminous Sound..

so i decided to do a Testdrive, if i can solve my wish.

As base i use the inlet of the old Original muffler what was a metalpipe with 3/4“ dia and about10cm in lenght.

This Pipe was pitted with holes with about 3mm in dia and each 1/4“ in lenght arround the pipe.

but it was not complete so i used it as template to make me a 3/4“ pipe and redo it like the original was.

Than i cut it in half in the middle of its lenght about 5 cm and build 2 Chamber sections.

the Rectangle pipe was a piece of Steelpipe i had laying arround with about 2“ diameter.

The inlay was a Pipe with 1“ and be welded into the Rectangle pipe to give it more nice lookout.

The resonance chamber is 8 cm after the intake from bottom than first chambersection is welded in

than a couplerplate and again a chamber with 28,5 cm is set on top  for forming the Accoustic.

To flatened the typical Pipesound i need an additional silencer what is simply a 3/4“ pipe with 4cm length screwed into the outet

it is at 31cm from the second chamber begin where it results in its best Accoustic.

so i got a very nice Soundambiente, until i opened the throttle to full.

Than it „barks“ as it should in a warm deep sound.

Simple straight forward.
