I have an appt. with Billy Bob the welder

Have Billy Bob grind a vee to the inside,  weld it, grind it flush, then weld on a scab plate.     Then It won't break like this one did in only 50 years.

It should last for  ~ .

I've noticed the hood on my C-160 doesn't always want to fit on the hood stand correctly. The other day when lowering the heavy recycler deck I noticed the hood and hood stand moving in different directions. I knew exactly where I had to look. Hood stand cracked right below the lift arm. Had to remove the running board, brake rod and brake pedal, hyd. lift control and cylinder to get enough access. I have an appt. with Billy Bob the welder on Thursday.

I picked up a used hood stand for mine since my welding skills are about as good as my ex-wife's credit score and I don't have anyone local with any time for small jobs. My F-bracket is cracked too so I'm just having to bite the bullet and dig deep for work space to take care of it all at once. I love the c-series regardless of a few weak points in the engineering.

They may have fixed that one in later models, but they created more, the upper steering support, the at the front fender pan and gas tank mount. and the three piece hood stand has had it's problems too.

Got the 1987 312-8 to run for a few seconds on carb cleaner after rebuilding the systems. Need to clean tank and get a new cap. The old ignition switch was a 6 pin, i put a five pin in it but do not have it wired correctly and cant figure it out.

I have the wiring diagram but its greek to me😂 oh yeah this thing sat in a field for 20+ years.

My appt. with Billy Bob was delayed a day due to medical issues. Billy was still off of his feed today but he managed to get the C-160 welded back together. He used a heavy washer as a plate. More surface area to weld on and he explained the roundness will be harder to break than just another flat piece of metal. Just got to metal finish it and it will be ready for primer and paint.

The usual Waldo day. Started to mow, dead battery in the Waldomobile . Put one that is one a charger in the mobile, no go. Crap Put it on a different charger. Looked at the one that was taken out of mobile date of 3/18. Beginning to think that @squonk was not a auto mechanic, but a used car salesman at the $5.00 down , $5.00 a week car lot. Started working on 310-8 with the bad starter. @#$%^&*()_ finally got it off and compared to a used starter I purchased. !@#$%^&*() _ Missing a threaded hole that is needed for the bracket on the back.!@#$%^&*()_+! Looked at a list of rebuild in my area either don't work on small stuff , don't speak English or out of business Son of a Sailor !@#$%^&*() . Ended up ordering one from Parts-_ _ _ _ .Big hole in credit card hope to have by the end of next week. I hope I remember where all the bolts and screws go. Waldomobile cranked and started so I mowed the front yard and part of the back.

Waldomobile got the 5&20 warranty. I soon as I drove on RT. 5& 20 when I got it the warranty was used up.

Time to trade in your W.T. Grants battery charger.

Wiring schematics seem to challenge a LOT of people.

They really aren't that complicated if you separate out all the individual circuits.

To begin with.... get the right switch.

It might solve the problem. Might not.

But you really should start the repair with the correct parts instead of wondering why the wrong ones don't work.

And just like that she has a heart again. Ended up getting the bearing from lil red barn along with the gaskets and I have to say they are very nice quality! Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the new bearing but definitely a nice alternative to the expensive oem! We will see how it lasts though. Mowed lawn with it this afternoon and so far so good.

Wouldn’t it be easier to clamp the band around a spare brake drum so it’d be in full contact for the band's entire length?

That is what I do, works like a charm. Sir Skunky has a old school mind. He probably sold old brake drums.
