Well didn’t exactly do anything to any of my horses but I did rearrange their stable so all 11 fit in and the wife can have her garage back. The little things.

Moved 3 tractors outside so I have room for some "incoming" stuff in the garage.....  Sharpened the blades on 2 48" SD decks, mowed for about 1-1/2 hours with the GT-1848, which I use for the rougher stuff - trails around and through the fields. It wasn't dark yet but I was mowing near the road and thought it would be wise to turn the lights on.  Hmmm... they're not working.  They worked the last time I tried them, what the heck?  Something else to fix now.

Removed balance gears yesterday, so today I replaced the front hydraulic cylinder and removed the drive belt release lever. All back together now.

Good looking machine.

I remove the Belt tension release on all of mine that had it as the jingling noise drives me nuts.

I usually remove them too, but this one wasn't noisy yet. Just figured I'd get it while I had the tractor tins all off.

I have the same tractor in my storage shed. Doesn’t look that nice though. I hope to get running soon. Last one of my dad’s tractors. Love to see some more pictures of it sometime.

I guess I don’t  understand the purpose of doing that. I use mine whenever parked with the motor running. They do jingle abit tho.

Can't avoid the South's humidity and it's especially brutal this year. Put on the bandana and the sun hat like any old man out in the yard - love that hat, and, after pushing the old manual Snapper on the Bermuda grass for an hour, switched to the 516H with its 48SD for the lot and its crab grass. The battery is 4 years old and it's Walmart time. Used that little jump starter 4 times - love those things. So, new battery installation today!

So, Wally World had the battery for the 516H. The one I got has reversed terminals since the PO must have had it wrong. He had the terminals to the rear and the clamp in the center - middle bracket just in the air. Fixed! Now that top bracket actually clamps to the corner of the battery like, I think?, it should. Negative lead is sucky - don't look. More PO stuff.

 

 

I had to pull the belt cover to retrieve a nut and noticed the idler was cutting a deep groove into the belt. I'm frequently reminded that there is a god. This might've had me stuck in the yard somewhere - oh, yeah, that's happened before.

 

 

It's still OK but I don't recall with my 61 year old brain whether I ever had that pulley off the machine. That kinda-new belt was a PO feature for me. Pulley was reversed. Plenty of green snot grease later, it's good. Now with the cover, it's a good thing to check the head torque on this P216. Later, though. This 85% humidity is murder - even for Georgia. Just wrenching in the garage and I'm sweating buckets. Took the day off so back into the AC. Hunga Tonga!

Well, I considered building a lithium battery recycling station and grafting some skin cells but I took another route and built a fire and watched my wife swing on the swing I built for her birthday  

 

The balance gears would have taken me a week

I cleaned the 42" RD last week and tackled the 48" SD today.     Little more work to drag the 48"er out from under the 417A.    Sure glad I have hydraulic lifts to put it back on.

 

Did the Greasy Pete thing to the mule drive bearings.   I know, it's not Lucas, but it is green , tacky, and high temperature.

@Ed Kennell  like that scrape down , so important to break the grunge cycle , hot sun ,on that with an oil penetrant soaking into the metal , all my decks are stained black from oil  heating , my end of season  grass build up is minimal , if at all , deck maintiance is a regular look see for me , just got off the horse grass touch up my self . pete

Put the 42" deck on the Raider as I up grader the mid hitch and added a front hitch when  I got it.  It did good but struggled some on my tough weeds. but I usually mow with the C-120/180 or the 520.

The North Carolina dust bowl is back. Kevin (Kpinnc) show a picture of it some time back. Here is mine the Raider was clean when I started the backyard.

All but impossible to tell what color they are mowing in August. The pic below was my 520-H last year.

I'm just about to add a belly hitch on my Bronco for the same purpose. Might never use it, but all my tractors earn their keep. Even the pretty ones!

So, got the 516H's rear cylinder cover off. Pretty easy with the belt cover removed. 16-18 ft lbs is the spec but they started to move at 14. About 15 hours on the rebuild. Good to have that done. Front cylinder done earlier. She purrs like a kitten with that new battery but might be the butt dyno talking, dunno.

The  deck linkage and the right front tire wanted to occupy the same space if the wheel was turned sharp to the right. The 19" front tiresnmight have had something to do with this, As you know the 1973 noname, c-series and later garden tractors came with a lift bar..that also holds the deck back.  The first method I tried put pressure on the brake band.

Second try worked not hitting the brake band and the tire doesn't hit the lift linkage. Looks like it hits the deck rollers but it doesn't.

no dust up here.  veery wet summer. have not watered my lawn at all so far this year.  i have had to DRAIN water from my pool 5-6 times this year.    we have had sooo much rain that it keeps overflowing.  usually have to water the lawn and ADD water to the pool.

Same here. 

We planted the garden one side of the other of June 1st. 

Watered it once to set the seeds in moisture. 

Not again this season. 

We'll be using the Wally Digger Backhoe to make another drainage ditch this fall.
