nyquil junkie 225 #19578 Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) I was starting to pull it off, but it doesn't look too worn out... kinda looks glazed w oil and crud. It slips when there is more than a half load on the hydro pump its belted to. The adjusted is wound all the way in so I cant tighten it anymore. Thats odd. The disk is almost as thick as the backer plate. Edited July 21, 2023 by nyquil junkie

My guess is it's out are completely gone, also the out side bearing in PTO coild be worn out.

nyquil junkie 225 #19581 Posted July 21, 2023 The clips and the cone look ok to me. Is that roll pin suppose to be all the way thru this thing? it looks like it should be and the center broke out. If so that would add quite a bit of adjustment back to it.
nyquil junkie 225 #19582 Posted July 21, 2023 Maybe I answered my own question... The hoop has a hole in it there with busted off roll pin in it. If ya'll concur, I'll go digging for a roll pin that long. Or a bolt. or something. 4

Best is to bite the bullet and get the correct roll pin--hardened spring steel is your friend in that place. The busted (rusted) one can be pushed out of the hoop using a roll pin punch.

Pullstart 62,905 #19588 Posted July 22, 2023 I caught up on a month’s worth of this thread waiting to pick my girls up from Chicago O’Hare. They have been in Germany while Mrs. P and I were in Alaska. We pretty much couldn’t possibly have place more space between us! Earlier I pushed a Horse or two out of the barn to get my Harley Davidson out for a cruise. That felt great to put some wind in my face! 2

They don’t sell it down here. Not a drinker but would be cool for display and possible end of the world activities. I have an empty from The Dino I may fill with something.

If ya'll concur, I'll go digging for a roll pin that long. Or a bolt. or something. That spring pin is not the same as are available in your hardware store small parts drawers. Those pins are typically only a single layer of material. Note that in the above picture, the pin has two layers of material. A trade name for pins of this type is Spirol. Toro still carries this part, though I thought that the last one I got should have been 1/4" longer. Edited July 22, 2023 by 8ntruck

Might want to check with a favorite store at ordering management level. Around here the market is so incredibly saturated with ♾️ kinds of micro producers the distribution systems can't keep things on store shelves for lack of space. If ya'll concur, I'll go digging for a roll pin that long. Or a bolt. or something. I'll just inject a bit here. The roll pin is supposed to turn freely in that hole in the hoop, and it looks like that may have no longer been true, possibly due to rust. So after driving out the remains, clean the hole good, maybe even fill it with naval jelly and let that soak awhile. Going back together, be sure to get some good heavy oil or grease in there. I've had good service from the foamy sticky motorcycle chain lube stuff on these PTO parts.
nyquil junkie 225 #19600 Posted July 22, 2023 (edited) So drill it out clean the same size and stick a greased up 10 penny nail in it then bend the end to keep it in. Actually I think I have a box of assorted roll pins around here somewhere. By roll pins I could mean nails...depends on how the search goes. There is the same clutch setup on the other 520 here I don't use the PTO on it... I might get lucky and its all in one piece.
