Stormin 9,981 #18701 Posted April 3, 2023 Hitched the roller to the B-80 this morning and rolled the verge by the pond. Little tractor did quite well seeing as how the ground is rather soft. I then fitted the mower deck to the C-125 prior to mowing the green. It was rather reluctant to start. Battery low so put on charge. After lunch helped S.W.M.B.O. with a bit of gardening. Dug out a bush stump for her and brought her a couple of barrow loads of soil for a corner feature she working on. Strimmer and self propelled walk behind mower were then brought out of storage to cut the grass in the garden. C-125 battery was charged up by then, so out to mow the green. Due to this being the first mow of the year, the grass was rather long. 7-8 inch long and wet. Took about 1-1/2 hrs in low 2nd. Still got the lane verges to do and a neighbours frontage but that will have to wait. Farm tomorrow for a rest. 5 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Tuneup 1,433 #18702 Posted April 4, 2023 England green? Things in Georgia, the land of Bermuda grass, are anything but green and it's time to scalp it. I knew the 516H 48SD and C125 42SD just couldn't mow low enough but I ran them through it anyway, and took care of the neighbor for good measure. They ran flawlessly. Out came the old Snapper on #2 setting and it took it almost to the dirt. Vacuum up the scrap which is more dirt than grass - can't be burned. Roger R 446 #18704 Posted April 4, 2023 Spring cleanup. Winter seemed to knock down a lot of sticks and limbs. De-thatched the yard, front and back. About as hard a workout the Charger gets anymore. Otherwise wagon / trailer pulling and spray duty. a trip over with the roller and an application of pre-emerge spray and I will be ready to mow. Desko 608 #18708 Posted April 4, 2023 Put a new "share of the fan favorite" deestones on the rear. Boy they do run small for anyone that hasn't bought them! These are a 23x10.50-12 and they just fit in place of the old 23x9.50-12 turfs that were on it (12x8 rims I believe?). I did end up going with a six ply though hoping they'll last a while but they are a pain to get on the rims! Father in law bought it new in 1985 I think. After he passed away, the family gave it to us. I used it for several years to keep our 1.25 acre yard mowed. I liked the sound of the briggs 12.5 hp twin cylinder each with it's own muffler. I wasn't a fan of the transmission and it's wheel drive but served the purpose. Once the local Snapper dealer retired it was difficult to get parts. I sold it to a lady who wanted a "vintage lawn tractor". You are right about that deck getting close to the ground. I used the deck to level high spots in our yard after we build our house. Daniel_Heetderks 35 #18713 Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) Today I got a new starter on my tractor, but found at that my starter solenoid is screwed up, and that my throttle is laggy. I put the reduction steering on in the fall and never really got to use it with the snowblower, but already enjoying it with the 60" mower deck! Where did you get the axle seals? Also what about the seal for the brake band?
