My half witt thought for a hitch on Colossus runs under the transmission like that but I was going to attach it a hair more forward on the frame.

That way ALL the weight is divided between the wheels a little better but that's not really a huge issue on these tractors so I  likely won't go that way.

You could run a flat 1/2" x 3" bar under the transmission and weld the receiver hitch above it.  Wouldn't loose enough clearnace to make any difference.

I wouldn't use the original hitch and keep it tight aganst the transmission.

Woke up this morning and frost was covering the ground outside. After I took my dog for a walk I pulled the 875 out for a 10 min ride. Parked it back in the garage. Went and filled my gas can with ethanol free gasoline and added Sta - bil. I'm all ready for when the frost turns to snow. Going to look for a set of chains for the rear tires. I used this tractor last year with no weights on the rear to plow and it did just fine. Now that I added the weight I might as well put chains on the tires.

What's going on everyone, long time no talk so some of yall. Its been s busy spring summer and now fall but iv got some Pic's coming of what iv been up to and the stuff iv acquired!! Nice to have to time sit sit down and get on here!!

This one is an 875. The 857 was sold couple years ago. To be honest I like the automatic better for plowing. This was my 857.

I got tired of looking at the torn seat, so I found a solution.

Easy install, the bolt pattern matched up exactly.  Not quite as comfy as the old one, but does have drain holes/channels that may be nice on rainy days.

Finished up rebuilding and painting a k-181 yesterday,just need something to put it in.

Also painted over the dreaded JD yellow 🤢wheel weights too cheap to pass up ! These will go on my 12 auto to help push snow around.

Got some free wheels, tubes, and tires at work a few weeks ago, so I felt compelled to get them on the tractor.  They are 24x12x12 Carlisle Turf Masters, and I mounted them on a set of 10.5x12 wheels.  I just had to cut out the centers (they were the wrong bolt pattern) and weld in new center disks I picked up from Miller Tire.  It was a fun project and I'm happy with the results. Not show quality, but then again, nothing I own ever is.  Still debating if I want to pull them back off and fill them with fluid.  They would be a serious bear to wrestle back on after that.

I'm of the contingent that advises fluid filled tires.  

 

If you change over to studs and nuts the wheels will be much easier to reinstall.

Funny you mention that......I was thinking the exact same thing while I was balancing one of these behemoths on my foot while trying to blindly get the wheel bolt started.

Thanks.  Actually, it was not nearly as difficult as I imagined it would be.  The center disks were slightly larger diameter than the inside of the wheels, so I slowly ground each "wing" of the disk down as uniformly as I could until they just slid down into the rims.  It turns out the backspacing they used on stock wheels is almost the exact thickness as a piece of 2x4 lumber laying on its side.  I mean, it may be off by 1/8" or so, but its more than fine.  There should be plenty of clearance, even if I move them over to a Hydro tractor at some point.  So I just set the rim on my welding table, dropped a chunk of 2x4 in the bottom, lined the wings of the disk evenly around the valve stem, and hit it with some tack welds.  Then flipped it over and  double checked the backspacing with a straight edge and depth caliper.  Everything lined up fine the first try, so I went back and ran a weld bead along each wing.  Below is a pick of right before I tack welded it
