Under the steering wheel there is a sticker with a serial number that will tell you for sure. The 1054 (built in 1965) is basically a third generation 953 (built in 1963) with a slightly different seat frame. They are a monumental pillar in Wheel Horse’s market stronghold of the day. They had a larger fuel tank, heavy cast iron grill, along with factory hydraulic lift and a manual transmission. Add that to the higher ground clearance, heavier frame, heavier front axle, heavier spindles… and they WHOOPED all over the competition! I would go so far as to say that on a manual transmission tractor ... unless you were going to rototill tough ground or cut tall grass it's legitimately possible you'd never see the difference between a 10 and a 12. Trina's go to horse is an 8 67. 8 HP Kohler. I've seen her spin the tires more times than I can possibly count but I've never ever ever seen her run out of power while grading the driveway, plowing snow, single tooth ripping, pulling heavy stuff. 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It is a straight through muffler with 90 degree elbows welded on for intake and exhaust. I figure field fitting a 'standard' muffler to the tractor will be the easiest way to go. Might as well ask here - anybody know if the mufflers for the KT 16 and KT 17 engines that Wheel Horse used in other models will fit the KT 19? I've been soaking the fasteners on the 48" deck with Marvel Mystery Oil for a couple of weeks. It has been long enough that the bolts came loose when I tried them today. Got the lift bar off. The intention is to swap it onto my 42" SD deck for use under Clyde. There appears to be a 2" difference in the mid hitch system between the C-195 and the other series mid hitch systems. The slot in lift bar on the 48" deck is about 2" longer than the corresponding slot in the 42" deck. I'll know for sure in the near future. The lift bar I took off needs a little straightening and some wear points need to be welded up before it goes back into service. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

squonk 41,017 #16439 Posted August 2, 2022 Trying to get tractors ready for the Steam Pageant next week. Discovered gas seeping from the 953 fuel bowl. I never noticed it before but the bowl looked like it got some unscheduled grinding at some point in it's life. Replaced the bowl. Whilst working on the carb, I noticed a rubber bumper laying under HHHOOOWWWAAARRRDDD!!!. Flipped the fender up and the brace the seat latch hooks to is busted. 8ntruck 6,990 #16440 Posted August 2, 2022 Got over to the neighbor's garage today and used his heavy duty vice to straighten out the lift bar from the 48" deck. Turns out that's all of the tractor work I got done today. While I was over there, he showed me his son's battery powered pole saw and asked if I had any trees need trimming. It so happens that I did, so I borrowed the saw. Fifteen or twenty minutes later, I now had a collection of small tree limbs on the ground. Now it was time to get the chipper/shredder out and reduce them to small pieces. That took about an hour. Think I need to open the chipper up again and sharpen the blades. It would grab hold of and self feed the oak branches, but it would not do the same for the few maple branches I tried to run through it. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Trina's evening fun was using the battery weedwacker to clear a path for an ATV, then moved to her own 867 Pigpen and trailer to move some more stone. More pathway work. I ran the Cinnamon Horse C160 powering the Mackissic chipper shredder. This isn't a Super C, but I used the exhaust from one I found on the big auction site. I made a copy from a smaller NOS nelson and the cut off ends from a rusty wheel horse nelson for another project. The manifold from a c175 and a 195 are the same part number, but the 175 muffler is smaller. Yes the exhaust from a 417 or a 418 will fit. Pay no attention to the streak on the hood, that was from some other magnum muffler that was similar to, but didn't have as much of a curve in the exit as the 418 shown. Thor27 767 #16444 Posted August 3, 2022 (edited) @8ntruck One other thing to be aware of, found out the hard way that there are 2 styles of the cast iron manifolds, so If you go to a different style muffler, make sure to get them too. I don't know if the change was at the break from the KT to the magnum or not. Here is a 418 muffler ans a similar of unknown origin (painted). The unknown streaked the paint, the 418 doesn't. Panther416-8 341 #16445 Posted August 3, 2022 Put on a Bllack Talon seat from Northern Tool. Model 355000BK. Fairly easy install. First adjusted tracks on new seat so they were 7.5" apart CTC to match the original flip bracket. Used 5/16" coarse thread x 2" bolts with 1" space sleeves, 1/4" flat washers and the thinner type of hex nut. Slid the tracks off the new seat and installed the bolts through from the inside of the sliding tracks ( technically downward once seat is installed) and then added the sleeve, washer and nut on the other side of the track pieces. The tracks were slid back on the seat and then these "studs" that were created this way then went through the slots in the factory flip mount.
