peter lena 8,634 #16305 Posted July 21, 2022 @kbowley good looking horse you have there , ever think about giving that paint an aerosol lubrication soak down ? its at a perfect stage to spray down the entire painted dull surface , just a soaking mist , let it sit a day , then clean cloth rub it down , till dry , NO SANDPAPER OR SCRATCH PADS . paint will look deeper red , do the spray over again , let sit a day , rub down till dry , should have a patina saving oiled finish on it . 2 choices at that stage , leave it alone , or use a 6 " hand electric buffer . with a cleaner wax to bring it out , try a test spot .like belt guard shield . if its the recovery you like , that buffer will make quick work of it , only a suggestion , that I have used on my 3 horses . good luck , pete

The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #16310 Posted July 21, 2022 Also do you guys know why my rjs tires are leaking some sort of fluid
rjg854 11,378 #16311 Posted July 21, 2022 They are probably filled with calcium in the rims are rotting out from the inside
squonk 41,145 #16312 Posted July 21, 2022 RJ's were so light in the front end they are often found with loaded tires
Handy Don 12,233 #16313 Posted July 21, 2022 That wheel has already been affected by rust, how badly is not clear, and I would worry that it could collapse if driven. Having that fluid sit on the spindle (the shaft through the hub of the wheel that attaches to the axle) could start it to rusting as well. This will not get better with age,
The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #16314 Posted July 21, 2022 Ok thanks for the info but I think they might last until I get it running it’s sat on those rims for 14 years but the front tires are the only bad ones the rears are fine I think at least

Andy N. 2,154 #16324 Posted July 23, 2022 Did a bunch of work on the Suburban today. Tightened the steering. Shimmed nose wheels. Removed Predator tank and connected original. Added foot rests for a more comfortable ride. Took duellies off to service outer tire and put a more manageable length bolt on. Axle seals will need to be replaced as well as maybe find a muffler.
