I can see a dent in the big axle bearing inner race and outer housing. Not sure what would cause it but please make sure it isn't affecting the bearing's rotation.

Thanks for the comment, but it's shine from the oil The bearing looks fine in person

Gives me a thought @Maxwell-8.. ever run into it again just grind one side off. Then you can disassemble the diff. Still in the case half to get it out and chuck the axle in a lathe and take the weld off.

How bad were the axles messed up a PO had to weld them on?

Pretty bad, but I can save them.

If it bothers you that they're a little boogered-up you can send them my way and i'll skim them on the lathe for you. If you take care of shipping costs i'll do it for :twocents-02cents:

Thanks a lot for the offer!  I have access to a lathe myself, I may try it.

I have two teens (17 and 18) that still aren't driving. Covid was partially to blame, as NC requires driver's Ed completion before issuing a permit. Lockdowns meant no classes for almost 18 months.

With that in mind, I'm gonna make sure my son WANTS to drive, and knows how to  before we get there...

I applaud the driver's ed completion requirement for teens while recognizing the hit a lot of them took due to COVID restrictions. Our family rule was no driver test before age 17 and 1,000 miles of real supervised driving experience. Two of the three also did driver's ed. Worked for us.

The BBT and I started clearing the new garden site of roots rocks and sticks.

We hooked up the Ripper Spike on her 8(10)56 Military Tribute Tractor Millie and she dragged it around the area for awhile.

We uprooted the roots. Dug up the rocks. Pulled out the sticks.

After that she continued with the process by hand. We also took the plow and weighted rear tires off the 75 C160 Automatic.

It really does.

I'd absolutely recommend one to folks clearing or maintaining an area.

It hangs pretty loose so I'll be fabbing up some sort of way to tighten it up.

Hauled and plowed brush with the 857 then took the blower off the C-160 and put the recycler deck on. It officially spring here at the Fake Chicken and Tweety Bird Ranch until I turn the water on to the garage. :helmet:

Kinda did the same here, took the snow plow, chains, and weights off. Changed the front wheels with the roller chains over to regular turf tires. Changed oil and greased the tractor for a new season. Will mount the mowing deck tomorrow. Then the C160 will be ready for mowing duties.

Not all of us are lucky enough to have a FEL in our arsenal. At least not yet 😉. Back is bad enough as it is without manhandling that thing. Plus my backyard is a muddy mess right now thanks to all the rain we've been getting lately in IL and the front of the deck just kept digging in.

At 300+ lbs, I don't know two who are man enough. It's all I can do to move mine with handtrucks.

Hung the mowing deck on the C160 today and adjusted it so it's ready for the season.

After

Then changed the oil and greased the Commando 8, and hung it's deck.

Chestnut

A couple of days. Getting ready for the spring change. Worked on the 520H snowblower and posted on another thread. Gathered parts and fluids for oil changes and other maintenance on all the tractors and other small engines. Got 10 gallons of fresh 90 octane alcohol free. Batteries back in the "summer tractors" Gassed and started two of them. But the most productive thing all week was to tell my wife that spreading out the "roof snow" in front of the winter storage shed would help it melt faster so I could get tractors out and help clean out the gardens and turn over the compost. After rain tomorrow should be clear sailing.
