What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

Reminds of the story my wife tells about my daughter taking my WH out into the motorcycle trials and getting stuck. My wife had to go help get it out and she was not happy. They washed it up before I got home and never said a word until years later.

@Desko Man that transmission looks really good. I’m refreshing my 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 right now.

I started a thread called Work Horse GT-1600 Refresh if you want to check it out.

What color gray are you using ?

I had to go with Rustoleum Smoke Grey because of the supply chain issues.

I hope to bring my Work Horse to The Big Show also.

I'm going to go with the Lincoln light pewter. Our paint supplier at work should be able to mix me up a batch hopefully. That GT-1600 looks really good I'll have to check it out! Mines going to be a GT-1642 when its all said and done. But I'm going with a twin onan repower lol it was originally a GT-1142 but the briggs was blown and is long since gone lol.

@JoeM  nice job on that , notice your shift boot , regularly give mine a shot of  303 RUBBER / VINYL , aerosol spray  wipe down , since doing  that , notice the rubber stays fresh and no cracking , pete

Taking a cleaner approach today.  Little one in the nose again and big sis “acting sleepy” so her sis will take a nap.  My calculations tell me they’ll both wake up in a couple 2-3 hours.

Ruts from yesterday’s carnage as a bonus.

I’m not sure if that or the 520-8 is newer, but I also have a 1998(?) 520Xi

With @TonyToro Jr. …Well after a few days of soaking and about 10 minutes per side with heat, I got the hubs off. One side came out with the axle attached 😂. so tomorrow that one will have to get pressed out. These hubs are off the donor Commando V8. Now  I’m undecided if I want to part it out or turn it into a yard racer?

From experience, that is a lot easier

Check the condition of the C-clip or even better replace it. You will have to open up the diff and make sure you got the old one out.

So you forced the axle out of the transmission using a pickle fork?  The c-clip must still be in there and the axle may be damaged.  Open the rear and fix the damage.

I do not see the groove for the Snap ring.  Some older units used a roll pin instead but I do not see a hole for that either.  In any event you have to open it up...

It’s fine that it came out as it did. I don’t need the transmission. We are just taking parts from it for the gokart build. But this could be the reason the transmission was locked up. 😂👍

😂 yup. That side was three wacks and out it came! The other side didn’t come out so easy. I had to use the puller on it. Heat and lube helped it off. I don’t need the transmission so it was ok that it came out as I’d did. They were super stubborn. My buddy wanted me to cut the axles and bring them to his shop so he could use is huge press and pop them out!

I don’t see either. But I’m not using the transmission. I’m just happy they are off!

Today i went to A to Z tractors and was very happy to get my shifting issue fixed I’ve posted on the forum before asking how to fix it and so while I was there today Lincoln took a look and fixed me right up. I guess my engine puly was off center and that was causing problems. I also got new foot rests that I’ve wanted for a long time. I also helped 857lover who is my buddy get his new trans swap finished.

Took the plow blade off the C 6.5 predator swap (I’m an optimist)… and arranged the garage for the wheel horses as it should be - sans Mrs. Sylvan’s car - for the High Holy Tractor Season…

Lucky for you @Ed Kennell!!! 🍀

You’ll notice my C 105 still has the blade on… while I’m an optimist, I’m also a realist…

Actually not much of anything. I really feel like it’s ‘tween season for the WH’s. The 520H snowblower guard came in the other day and I installed it, but with the ground starting to thaw I’d probably tear up the lawn if I had to get it out. Last time out I noticed a bad bearing on the end of the augur. Waiting for replacement parts (due Monday) for both bearings and one set of housings (just in case). Glad we only seem to be getting an inch or two from today’s storm.

The FEL is still locked up in it’s winter home by the roof snow now consolidated to ice.

Glad to see the posts from other people who are already in mud season or better. Gives us something to look forward to.
