The hydro axle housings are 1/8" larger then the 8 speed. Wheel Horse added a spacer bracket to their axle hitches.  If Eric built his hitch to fit tight on an 8 speed It will not fit a hydro  with out elongating the holes.

It's good paint. I'd agree. The surface prep on the other hand leaves some to be desired. There wasn't any. 

 

I'd sure like to know what the paint is....

I bought this hitch

 

Off the fleabay a couple years ago. Purpose was twofold. I wanted to be able to use a receiver hitch and also needed to move the plow blade forward to clear my oversized 20 x 8 x 8 tires. 

I made up a mating plow bracket from a 7" long piece of an old Wheelhorse frame. 

At the time we had only manual transmission tractors. 

As @Lee1977 says the axle square tube is smaller on sticks than on Automatics. 

 

I made the bracket extra long compared to stock location after I had gotten some spacers for vertically mounted brackets from @WVHillbilly520H and liked the more downward position of the rear plow mount. (raises the front for better ground clearance). 

 

I also had to notch the bracket today to clear the left side of the hydro (pump?).  

 

 

I kept the upper holes of the bracket where I had them and expanded the lower holes so the mount position would stay the same height.  

 

 

@Snoopy11 and @Thor27. The plow blade is the 61" wide monster creation of one Mr @wallfish. 

I ran it a bit last year. It worked well but I kissed a rock at the side and dinged it up some. 

A few months ago I had ordered a VERY heavy duty 60" cutting edge for a skidsteer.

The cutting edge alone is about the same weight as the rest of the plow. 

Got that mounted up and ran a bead of weld down the side blade attachment points. 

Yesterday I finished cleaning up the welds and had The Paint Department throw some Rust-Oleum 2X Apple Red at the front side of it.

I'm always looking new ways and excuses to use the Wheel Horse.  Made a cheap and easy garbage can hauler using a 36" water meter tool from Home Depot.  Works great taking the can to the street on pick up days or driving around the yard picking up pine cones, limbs,etc.

Had to change out one of my snow horses (low impact plow tractor).  Scheduled tractor is on loan to my brother.  Set up an Electro 16 to fill in (overkill on power and fuel consumption).  Then realized the big muffler I adapted to work with the Magnum 16 and clear the hood interfered with the blade angle lever.  So quick substitute with a different muffler will be noisier but she won't get many hours.

Cleaned up after a decent snowfall today. 6.25 inches give or take. 

First time using the C160 Automatic for it's intended purpose. Plowing!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The circled area on the brown tarp is a 417A trying to get out so it can have a rebuild.

That was something Trina noticed right away.  

We were done a fair amount sooner than expected. 

 

I'm not sure if those are the chains I ran last year. 

When installing them I figured out that the cross chains line up exactly in between the bars of the AG tires. One chain. One space.  

That makes for a VERY good grip.  

Also helping traction is a LOT of weight. 

Hydro is heavier than an 8 speed and I added the two rear outside weights. 

 

This big plow and soft ground were having some challenges getting along. 

Careful usage of the control lever helped. 

 

I have a set of shoes I'll be installing. 

 

One thing I noticed about ¾ of the way through.... I was/am MUCH less fatigued than when using a manual transmission tractor.

If you are using a snowblower on a hydro it saves a lot on the arm, lifting that blower.

The engine sounds like you have reached the maximum horsepower.  Are you running at maximum throttle?

Technics vary. 

 

I've tried to use less or none.

On my plow tractor, I run 75 lb wheel weights on  each rear with no chains, it does fine pushing a 48” plow.  On my snowblower tractor I run the same weights with rubber chains.  I like to travel rather fast plowing and chains just slow me down.  Everyone’s situation is different, hills, surface, snow type, etc.
