What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

Recommended Posts

After a month of waiting, I finally received my wheel spacers and put them on. Chains are in the shop, ready to rock...

You can really see the clearance between the wheels and the sub-frame. Exactly what I needed for chains...

I got some quality time with both horses today.  The C195 got put on lawn sweeper duty, and the 14-8 got tapped for plow duty.  Why this division of labor?  The plow does not fit the C195.

The leaves were to wet to burn, so I piled them along the fence at the back of the property. I'll worry about what to do with them in the spring - they will end up burned, or being run through the shredder.

This is the longest I've run the C195 since I got it.  I'm getting more confidence in it.  I am assuming that it is normal for an Eaton 1100 to have a slight whine as the tractor accelerates from a stop.  It is quiet when everything is up to speed.

The C195 is nowhere near as menurvible as the 14-8, though.  Has a lot of understeer too.  Tri ribs or front wheel weights might help that.  Then again, maybe a new set of turf savers that don't have aged, rock hard tread might help.

Using the plow to push the sweeper dump piles around worked out well enough that I think I'll fab up a leaf plow for next fall.  I'll see if I can design it so I can use it on either tractor.  The hydraulic lift on the C195 sure will make an implement like that easier to use than the lift lever on the 14-8.

Totally normal. Not as much as a Sundstrand, but a little is OK.

Do both and don't look back.

400# hanging on the back, and it doesn't look like the tires even know it.

INdeed, those old, most likely stock tires are not showing it.

As on the photo the tractor is probably around the 1100lbs range.

I just finished making my front weights. 70lbs, not the most but sufficient.

Buy me a ticket to Belgium... make a rack for the front, and I'll sit on the front and add 250 lbs... :P

It is a counter balance for the leaf collection parts on the opposite side.

Nice! Actually know of one with that issue and never thought about a counter weight.

Thanks!

With all due respect… stickers are things you put on bumpers and hard hats.

We use “decals” on our tractors, especially if they come from Terry/ @Vinylguy !

BTW… that black hood looks great !

I had a person tell me they are from a walk behind tractor , maybe Gravely ?? They weigh about fifty lbs..

If you look in the middle of the weight , there are three holes so you can use bolts into the hub. But it would have to be a shallow wheel to do that.

And the holes I have the bolts thru the weights are to wide to fit in the holes in the wheel where you put carriage bolts , you have use bolts thru the slots in the wheel
