I just held council with the BBT in regard to your plan and she suggests you buy a shovel. A really big shovel. She says also possibly a shield. 1
Roger R 448 #13828 Posted December 1, 2021 Like Wheel Horse, Simpsons were the standard in the day. My 260 is around the same age as my Charger 12. Well over 50 years of dependability. Still matches my certified Fluke for accuracy. Gotta love the "Old Equipment"

Gotta love the "Old Equipment" Back in my early days as a knuckle dragging outside tech, Simpsons were the best test gear to have. We tested cable pairs that were sometimes 60K feet long, and that meter would put you right on top of a fault if you knew how to use it. Some of the old timers were like wizards with those meters. And the meters typically bounced around in the floorboard of a nasty field truck all the time- and I've never seen one fail annual calibration from it. Good stuff!

Raposo 530 #13832 Posted December 1, 2021 They are about 25 lbs each. thank you! I’m happy with it. The tractor works very well with the predator and it fits in there perfectly. This tractor is one of my workers and pulls a lot of lawn tools and does great. She will be getting a 1” 8 speed soon as this rear end is on its last leg

I tried it on a 1257 and the only thing I didn't like was trying to get the adjustment on the brake and clutch to coincide. 6 speed versus 8-speed has the brake drum in a different place. What will you do with the 3-speed that's in there now? What's wrong with it?
Pullstart 62,905 #13834 Posted December 1, 2021 When I did mine, it was purely out of necessity. I had a ratted out 502 3 speed trans that loved to pop out of 3rd gear when I got it. The first parts tractor I came across was a C-101 8 speed so I tossed them together hoping it would work. Like @ebinmaine stated, the parking brake didn’t line up well so I left it out. I’m a flat lander Neanderthal so it was no issue. I do currently have a nice rebuilt 6 speed waiting to swap in some day but it’s not a big rush.

Indeed, a JD 318 is 150 pounds heavier the a C175 and 3 inch's taller. (a c175 has an alloy kt17 vs the JD heaving a cast iron 18hp onan) Edited December 2, 2021 by Maxwell-8 1
