What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

3 flat suburban concrete drives… I have a “zamboni” pattern for each that keeps me going forward a lot of the time… each is about 125’ - 150’ deep and 12’ - 20’ wide…

I also clear off the city plow piles from the base of several other drives to help them out… those are full speed single pass jobs…!

bit faster forward

The difference between my 74 8 speed and 75 Automatic is VERY noticable both forward and reverse.

The 8 speed does have the upper RPM dialed back to 3300 or so though.

So it has been all hydro for me for several years now .  No way i am going back.  A bit faster forward and much faster reverse.  More efficient for the snow blower as I can vary speeds better to keep it full but not choking....

:text-yeahthat:     Same here...plus add a foot control so the right hand steers and the left hand operates the hydraulic lift.

That's in the pipeline too.

I have some ideas of something slightly less than a Rube Goldberg machine that might work.

The new-to-me '75 C160 Automatic is back up and running.

I messed about with it for awhile this morning.

That thing is like a little hotrod zipping around there like that.

Looking good.

Ya ever read about me bein' bucked off Cinnamon Horse??

Changing seats wouldn't hurt...

I probably never told anyone... but when I first built HellHorse... I did not have a seat for it... so I just sat on the metal where the seat should be.

Well... at the time... I was inexperienced in using HellHorse... and although I only have a 196cc engine on it... the clutch slipped off of my shoe... and HellHorse just about pulled me out of my shoes... landing flat on my behind. While I was gathering my... thoughts and body parts... my horse is going down the driveway by itself, of course. :wh:

We all know that horses have to be tied up so they stay put!

The good thing is, I didn't have a lot of fuel in it at the time... and it died before I had to chase it... too far... :laughing-rolling:

Edit: after that experience, I went to the shop, got on my laptop, and bought a seat....

Wasn't the seat that was the issue.

I hadn't fixed the latch yet on that one.

Certainly much more sturdy and I've gained several inches of room

And more weight directly over the axle? :)

You fellas just gave me a new Holidays eating excuse!

I'm not gaining weight, I'm simply adding ballast for springtime tractor work...

HAH! Yeah, I have tried to take care of the traction part... hopefully... my chains will suffice... (if not, I may have to... do more thinking...)... :scratchead:

Leaves round 10 or so… just before snow hits…

And… a fail… my pvc wear bar idea crapped on me… not unexpected, but I was hopeful… I’ll just go back to the metal and set it really lightly to protect the new concrete drives…

Bummer. I was thinking of giving that a try after you posted the idea. Maybe the heavy rubber belt thing would work better?

part of an industrial conveyor belt. wears very nicely haven't yet tested it on snow tho.

I forgot to tension the rubber before mounting so it is a bit crooked.  Will have to do that again.

I have used this stuff for a few years now on one plow tractor the one that clears about 60 ' of pavers.  Also does other plowing on gravel stuff if i don't feel likes swapping tractors... Hardly any wear.  Just mounted  new piece on a 48" blade  (old one was 42").

A friend gave me this idea. We both have gravel drives. He slit a piece of 3" PVC length wise. Took out about an inch wide. It snaps right onto the wear bar. He did this on his Speedex and he says it works great and doesn't dig into the gravel. If it doesn't work no big loss.IMG_20211127_144559018.jpg.0fe5789e04fde498f9986bf4e4c38fb6.jpg

If you now cut a 1 1/2" - 2" piece off the end of that so you have a C clip, they work great for locking the lids closed on the big trash/recycle bins. Keeps the varmints out!

And I have as many 3" PVC pipe pieces anyone wants.

I was playing around with timing today... I came up with this. It is hard to tell in the video, as it is so loud... but I am hitting 7,240 RPM.

I can do a much bigger wheelie... obviously... but I don't because I don't want to hurt the front end.

Got that big heavy motor on there, ya know...?
