shallowwatersailor 3,213 #56 Posted January 12, 2018 It is almost the middle of January and 58 degrees today so that means it is time to get ready for snow. I had left the 518xi's cab on over summer so just needed to re-install the doors. The 523Dxi got its cab installed about two weeks ago, and then finally got the snowthrower attached today. 3

aHorseofCourse 261 #59 Posted January 12, 2018 @AMC RULES and @PeacemakerJack it's a ROPS off a mini excavator I adapted to the 2" receiver hitch. I only recently started calling it a 'rig' because of how massive it is now, weighs about 1000lbs without the plow. I was going to make a 'tower' to mount the lights on then I remembered I had this thing laying in the scrap pile. I had a post building the tractor and one of the motor last year, I added some things since the last post guess I should update it. Thanks for the compliments. 6

I have suitcase weights that are put on the tractor that is in use. Actually I have found that the Kenda Terra Trac tires on the 518xi to be the best type of tread for snow with the weight of a 5xi. This area of MD is strange for snow - far different than what I was use to in Illinois.. In eight winters here, four have seen just dustings for the whole season, two what I would consider a normal winter with more than three measurable snowfalls, and then two with 36" blizzards. Chains are hanging on the wall but I leave them off until really needed. Actually the snowthrower hasn't been used for the last two seasons. clueless 3,002 #68 Posted January 13, 2018 (edited) Removing snow in Northwest Florida Woke up one morning back in March on 1993, went outside to get the paper and found 4 inches of the white stuff on the ground. Came back in, put on a big pot of coffee, lock the doors, loaded the guns, and waited for the sun to remove it... it was a rough five hours.
