Pullstart 62,834 #1302 Posted March 29 I found a picture of my first hot rod today. This was an ‘87 or so Regular cab short box S10, with a 350 v8 and 700R4 transmission. I welded the rear spider gears (Lincoln Locker) and had a Predator carburetor on it. It was a single barrel HUGE square carb with a massive butterfly. It was basically all or nothing. It would idle ok and run W.O.T. And not much in between. At one point, I milled my own header flanges and built zoomies about 16” long 1-7/8” tube straight out the fenders. Loud? Whatchu talkin’ bout Willis? 7
19richie66 17,500 #1303 Posted March 30 Never didnI ever think a truck built in the 90’s would be a classic but here we are. Recently I bought this off my best friend back in Florida. It was his uncle’s truck. He bought it when his uncle passed. I got it last November and brought it home to NC. Tidying up a few things and getting it drivable(to my liking anyways). Hope to be cruising it soon. Pretty much all original and most of the mods I do will be with factory option parts for these trucks. Electric sport mirrors, newer sound system, the Tahoe limited wheels(I just got) and a couple other things. I really like these year trucks. 6

Ha, the first and only brand new car I ever bought was in 1988, an 89 Chev truck short bed and 4x4. Loved that truck and it could climb off road hills like nobody's business. Unfortunately it got T-boned down in LI NY and the passenger side was crushed in at the door. Drove it home back to MA with my friend practically sitting on my lap and it took forever riding the granny lane doing about 40 mph. Even that speed was scary and dangerous but I was like 23-24 yo and didn't know any better. Plus no money to pay for that kind of a tow! When I drove to the insurance adjuster, the first thing he said was I couldn't have the tow truck drop it off there! He was all upset. He couldn't believe I drove it 10 miles to get it there let alone the 200 miles from LI. LOL Stared at me shaking his head as I drove out the parking lot to go back home! Good times

The old “square body S-10 series” are growing in desirability once again. In the late 90’s I knew multiple people that owned them—some stock and some hot modded! Cool little trucks for sure! 3

When it was new a similarly aged truck would be this one… If that don’t make us feel old!!! If you look back at the first post I wrote to start this thread, I related to story on how one of my sons buddies commented on my “classic Chevy pickup”🤔👀😅 and that was my 1995! I had to chuckle when Caleb relayed his comments to me! But age is indeed relative! Can’t wait to visit you again Richie and go for a cruise in that thing😎🙌🏻 3

Cruising the ‘69 C10, I often get the “I grew up riding in one of those” hollers and looks. My mom had an S10 Blazer, but even before that I’ve always loved these trucks. It was my dream to have one for my first vehicle, and it didn’t happen that way. I had a 2.8l V6 2wd for a while, and this 350 one. They were fun, but my heart was in the 4x4s. I never did get one . I get the itch to get Mrs, P’s 84 305 truck out quite often, it deserves more than sitting in the barn with flat tires!

I never see such a beauty here on my site, they must be more than rare. Looks like a keeper since Generation‘s. This truck has a histoy and it can be feeled. Sadly they now not be able to built Cars or Trucks with the charme of the old ones. Btw: Age is just a point of view and what you interpret in it.

So being out of my element on this stuff, would that be a stock chassis from a bigger truck onto which the cab, middle (?), and bed were swapped? Or was the chassis stretched? PeacemakerJack 10,738 #1315 Posted May 15 I just got back in the USA after three weeks in Croatia. This isn’t a truck per se but it is vintage and pretty cool… (Downtown Zagreb—about two blocks from the Cathedral) …talk about van life! 3 2

OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #1317 Posted May 16 Well my truck is 20 years old now officially so it gets the nod for this thread. I really like it and my 11 year old son is already claiming it will be his first truck. It's a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 z-71 package. Has the floor shift 4wd lever, not push button which is a huge plus for me. I got it in 2016 with 161k miles for $3,900(Just before truck prices went crazy, could probably profit a couple thousand now). To me that is a high return on investment. It's at 195k now so it's not a high use driver. But it does get the fun! Added a camper shell last year to it. I really like this era truck from GM. In a few years I might start looking for a low mileage option and jump on it. So the son can get this one. But anyways..onto the pics...Here's a few below of it having fun. Hunting, Camping, Fishing, and hauling WH Tractors of course! 6

squonk 41,067 #1319 Posted May 16 That floor shift 4WD lever is still pretty much all electric. It moves an electric shift motor that engages the transfer case. Electric then engages a shift motor on the front axle. Really no different than a button on the dash. 2

87 416-8 horse 420 #1321 Posted May 17 Just thought i'd share a couple pics of my dads truck. It's a 2000 Ford f350 crew cab dually. It has a 7.3L power stroke turbo diesel. He has done many power mods. He bought it brand new off the lot. It's his favorite truck and he plans to never get rid of it. It has 137,000 miles and still looks new, its never on the roads in the winter. 4

I suppose I need to look back to who you were quoting and what vehicle. Silverado era 99 and up Chevy trucks had a floor shift option, or standard with push button option (?). Either way, the floor shift sure did lock the front driveshaft. Now, there is/was a switch on the transfer case that did send power to lock the front axle, but I’ve manufactured slugs to lock that sleeve in place on occasion. The front axles both spin anyway, so it just added a little more drag from the diff and driveshaft, but many miles proved it to be trustworthy and not ill on the truck.
Pullstart 62,834 #1325 Posted May 22 It’s wild to think my daily driver is a classic. Did I already say that in this thread in the past? “Norman” my 2001 Chevy 2500HD, stick shift Duramax 2WD. 300,000 miles and counting. I’ve really been thinking about a tractor paint/clear coat paint job in the next year or two. 7
