JCM 9,130 #456 Posted January 1, 2020 @AHS I factory ordered that truck in March of 1986 knowing I would keep it for many years, there are more pics on page 7 showing the interior. It has an LT9 350 with a 4 barrell carb and 4 speed manual transmission that the salesman tried to talk me out of saying it was to nice of a truck the way I ordered it to be shifting and I'm glad I didn't let him talk me out of it, that's the most fun part of driving it even 34 years later. Maybe just clean it up and enjoy it some more... back in the day some of my friends started with 2wd - and transformed them into 4wd some transformed 3/4 ton trucks into short beds - cut frame, shortened driveshaft but better ... some were installing car bodies onto the 4wd chassis one put 68 Camaro body on 4wd chassis ... and installed a front end on the rear - instant 4 wheel steer ! this thing could go down the road sideways ! 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

A guy up the road from me has a 68 K20 292 plow truck... and he won’t get rid of it!! (I’ve tried!) Although they did use the 300 fords in the UPS trucks. I can’t ever remember the 292 in UPS trucks... could have been. 292 was a torque machine!!💪💪 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I bought it from a friend in 1985 when I was 15, four months before I could even get a learners permit! I think I paid 1600 bucks and it had an 8’ Meyer plow with a homemade headgear.At the time I was plowing snow with my Work Horse GT -1800 and couldn’t wait to use my truck to plow! I used to sneak it out with my friends late at night and go for a drive on the beach. I was (and still am) lucky enough to live a quarter of a mile from a beautiful stretch of beach that is well over a mile long. The truck was a 1968 3/4 ton with a 327, 4 speed and I believe 4:56 rears. I remember that truck didn’t like to go much more than 55 mph! Here’s me with it at 16 years old. Gotta love those hightop sneakers!!!! Also the genuine Wheel Horse red hat in the first Work Horse picture! They were made from two pieces that were welded together and had a tendency to rust out in between the two pieces. If yours are bad or questionable I may have a set in good shape.
