ohiofarmer 3,276 #1062 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) We had to put this truck on a roll off and take it to the BMV as the son inherited it from his father and drove it on the old title. When the huge batteries failed, it was no longer started. Let's us just call this high potential for now. i did get it started last fall, and while the guy offered me a price that was profitable for a roller to sell off the VGC body parts, which was all the body, and the frame that has probably 60% of its 31 year old paint, even a part out of this truck would be worth considering. I did start a thread titled Free F 250. That's correct. free. We paid 140 for the wrecker and a bit for the title transaction. We did also insist that he take his wife out for dinner a few times as she had to endure a bit of waiting to get the truck gone, so all are happy. He also is getting a brand new factory defect air compressor with a tiny weld crack repaired because no one else would do it. So the long build process of the very noisy engine has not yet been determined if it is a top end build, or the problems go deeper In this day and age, with the crazy truck prices, we recognize what an opportunity this truck could be, but there are problems starting to surface. At least Buck and Roy now have pictures of an actual truck on page 43 of this thread Edited May 20, 2022 by ohiofarmer 1
ohiofarmer 3,276 #1063 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) Just a teaser of the fact that this truck will clean up pretty nice. You can see Jay's old Chev in the background Edited May 20, 2022 by ohiofarmer 2
rmaynard 15,509 #1064 Posted May 20, 2022 I posted this in another thread, but thought it might be more appropriate here. This is the one that got away. I could have had this 1931 Ford Convertible pick-up for $18,000. However I would have had to sell most of my horses to finance it. The rear end looks suspiciously like a Ride-Away Senior. 6
Horse Newbie 7,074 #1065 Posted May 21, 2022 Let’s play “The Price Is Right” ! What price would you put on this 1969 GMC Custom ? V-8 Auto trans 88,000 miles garage kept/ one owner power brakes/ power steering/ no AC Owner says been parked for 5 years, needs new gas tank, or gas tank cleaned. I drove 169 miles to look at it after work tonight… 5 hour round trip…
c-series don 8,720 #1066 Posted May 21, 2022 Although those trucks came with a factory wood floor in the bed, that is definitely not one of them. Just wanted to add my little bit of knowledge about those 67-72 trucks. In my opinion they were some of the nicest Chevy trucks ever produced.

Ahma take a guess that they are asking $5850 But if it were mine I would be starting around $5000 I think, just to see what I could get. Hmmm... sitting "five years" but the inspection sticker is from '96 ... maybe sitting more like TWENTY five years? You gonna tell us what the ask is on it? Did ya buy it? What's wrong with the tank? Rusted out? Did ya crawl under? Frame OK? Brake lines? (replace with cupro-nickel if not) Edited May 21, 2022 by Jeff-C175

Horse Newbie 7,074 #1069 Posted May 21, 2022 Good one @Jeff-C175… I think you may have looked it up… I did not check it over very closely. The guy selling was not very nice to a friend of mine that was gonna rush down and take a look at it while I was still at work Friday. It just turned out to be a little more than I wanted to take on . I have, if you all have noticed in some of my pics, an 81 Toyota that I want to get back on the road, and I just could not justify bring home something else to sit in the yard waiting on me. He said he would take $5000, and down these parts, I don’t think he will have trouble getting it. Even though the paint looked good, when I opened the hood, under there it looked like it had not been touched since ‘69… I passed… 2

Jeff-C175 7,202 #1072 Posted May 21, 2022 1 hour ago, Horse Newbie said: looked it up… Yeah, I cheated! Sorry, but the price was in line with what I had in mind already. Given that they said something about the gas tank leads me to think it's not running, so no way to know condition of the drivetrain. In that case you're paying for a body, and that price is a tad high IMHO.

Horse Newbie 7,074 #1074 Posted May 21, 2022 (edited) @Jeff-C175 He said he did not want to crank it and possibly put more bad gas/ dirt/rust from the tank in the carb. I’ve seen videos on YouTube where Dereck from Vice Grips Garage would buy a car and drive it 700 miles back home and have to stop every 50 miles and change the fuel filter because the fuel looked like mud… Having to deal with the cranky owner, trailering it 169 miles home, having to get it running, and then dealing with possible buyers was just something I didn’t have time or patience to do right now… besides, I have to once over my 1998, 276,000 mile, Chevy Z-78 Silverado, and once over my trailer to get ready for the Big Show ! Horse Newbie 7,074 #1075 Posted May 21, 2022 I don’t think it would take a lot to get it running… you know a 1969 SB V-8, I think it was a 307, or whatever Chevy had, are pretty simple to get going- they either run, run bad, or don’t run…
