AMC RULES 37,127 #26 Posted January 26, 2018 My version of a "super street", '73 Gremlin(never offered as a kit...at least not when this was built up, circa early '90's) converted from a pretty rare funny car kit. Used a two seater AMX interior, leather wrapped the seats...flocked the rest. Virtually every detail under the hood imaginable, working throttle linkage, functional hood pins. Ultimately decided to distress the exterior, in an attempt to capture that east coast "weathered" daily driver look. You can see the original example of this kit(white)sitting in the background. 3

WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #28 Posted January 26, 2018 Someone either has wicked patience or way too much time on their hands, but on a more serious note @AMC RULESsuper sweet realistic modeling right there, Jeff.

I had about 100 models, mostly mopar's when my parents house burnt in 87. Mine were in a big cabinet that I built in 4-H handyman group. The fire burnt up the front of the boxs but didn't completely burn them up. When I took them out of the boxes most looked like they had been in a severe accident, especially the un-built ones. The heat warped the soft plastic. After the fire I went on a model buy binge and tried to replace the ones that I could. Luckily they were reproducing a lot of them at that time. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to build any, for a long time I said when I don't have anything else to do, as you all can imagine that just has never happened, maybe when I retire someday. It's gotten to the point that I rareley think about them anymore except when I walk into the basement were they are stacked on the self. I even had several of the Ertle International truck models and a Cat D8 bulldozer. eric j On 1/22/2018 at 11:57 AM, WVHillbilly520H said: On 1/22/2018 at 11:57 AM, WVHillbilly520H said: sorry about the messed up post when I hit the submit button nothing happened so I hit it 2 more times then checked the next page and seen what I had done.removed the extra post but could not remove the quotes totally Edited January 28, 2018 by ericj 2
WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #30 Posted January 28, 2018 As far as collectors go they say they're worth more in the sealed boxes, but where's the fun in that, I guess I got into it for a few reasons, dad had (still has) one of those IH semi-trucks sitting on top of the fridge he built when I was way young, then my uncles on mom's side had them, then the fact it was so cheap to build the car of your dreams, Jeff.

WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #32 Posted January 28, 2018 Keep 'em coming Craig, I got super busy yesterday back home splitting wood and tinkering on tractors forgot to take a pic of my first WH doodle, Jeff.
AMC RULES 37,127 #33 Posted January 28, 2018 My all time favorite of my built up AMC kits... one of the few I built in the non RWB team colors. Couldn't resist building with these non stock, over sized steam rollers out back.

I’m not sure what is cooler, this totally awesome model or the fact that you are displaying it for us in these pictures on the hood of a life size “stock version” of itself. I didn’t notice it right away at a glance because of the paperwork and boxes in the background but having admired your car in the “decals thread”, my eyes finally focused on the green and white! Sweet man great staging for the photos. I even like the lighting... Edited January 29, 2018 by PeacemakerJack

PeacemakerJack 10,738 #43 Posted February 3, 2018 That is super cool!!! Where did you find that? Is it on one of your own? I’d like to hear more about this and see a couple more pics if you have them...
AMC RULES 37,127 #44 Posted February 3, 2018 No big deal... just got tired of looking at this bare seat pan on my Commando eight... got a wild hair one day, just drew it up, & painted by hand.
PeacemakerJack 10,738 #45 Posted February 3, 2018 Just now, AMC RULES said: No big deal... just drew it up, & painted by hand. No big deal for you! Why don’t you live closer, I could prep Caleb’s seat on JackRabbit and you can paint Jeff’s drawing on the back since it is “no big deal”! Great work
AMC RULES 37,127 #46 Posted February 3, 2018 No problem... I would do that. What seat does he have on it now?
PeacemakerJack 10,738 #47 Posted February 3, 2018 He has the commercial line seat with arm rests. It needs a new pad and cover—the current one is loaded with cracks and doctored with Gorilla tape. I had forgotten that it has a back strap between the arm rests though—that would be problematic for painting a nice pic on there. Maybe I need to keep my eyes open for a different seat altogether and then have that one painted up. Thoughts???
AMC RULES 37,127 #48 Posted February 3, 2018 Painting on the back of that seat wouldn't be a problem... & I would think a local upholstery shop should be able to sew up a new cover for it too. 3

Get 1 of those mid back Michigan seats like @cleat puts on his 520s they accept the 2pc arm rests plus the covering and padding is so much more comfortable, and the price isn't to bad, not saying painting the "Jack Rabbit" on the seat wouldn't be cool but if Terry put it in vinyl then it could be reproduced again if it ever got ruined, Jeff.
