The head lights on your tractor would be a good choice. Just connect it to the side of the switch that has power with the key "ON" and lights off.

Is that good or bad 😂

Neither. Just letting you know what model year it is since that model number was used for 2 years.

Kohler made your engine in 1990 and the M18 is an excellent motor.

It was made or came from an American Yard Products tractor which you may know as AYP. Found that here

http://www.partstree.com/parts/kohler-engines/engines-horizontal/m18-24585-kohler-m18-engine-magnum-american-yard-products-18hp-13-4kw-specs-24500-24682/

Since the engine has been changed to a different ignition system the 18hp used in the 1987 400-Series tractors should be appropriate for what you have as far as wiring is concerned.

Engine operator manual

Engine service manual

The Magnum engines have an ignition system similar to magneto ignition. The single ignition wire is simply grounded to the chassis to shut the engine off. Do not allow any battery voltage into that wire as that will burn up the ignition system.

So is that why my headlights dont work then even though they are wired?

I'm also wondering if it would be possible to convert the acceleration from the level on the dash to a pedal on the right side from what i see it look possible because I just like that better a pedal versus a lever

The fuel pump for the M18 is 95$ I think I'll go for one of the much cheaper electric ones

There's a lot of these inline fuel pumps for  8-12$ would one of them be a good idea?

What r pluses and minuses of the kt17 series 2 versus the kohler twin M18?  Both good reliable engines with good torque?
