Just really glad the rubber grommet split now when I was working on it. And not when everything was hot during the plow day. We’d a had tah swap tanks, I don’t have any spare grommets!

Assuming my tanks are original my 72 raider has no grommet just the nipple. My 73 has a grommet as well as my 74 I think when the tank switched from under the hood to under the seat it still has a grommet correct?

Pullstart 64,388 #132 Posted March 28 Yeah, not many operating C series machines here… and the one that does has a yank start Kohler with its own tank. 2
8ntruck 7,334 #133 Posted March 28 Your description of the choke settings indicate that the carb needs disassembly and cleaning. Not a difficult job. Your local Toro dealer should be able to get you a rebuild kit. My local Toro dealer is pretty proud of his Wheel Horse parts, though. Good luck and have fun. As much as I believe in Buy Local I've stopped using any local Toro dealers altogether. The pricing structure is not even reasonable. I've been getting OE Kohler carb kits from Bill's place online. 2575701S is the number. Their price is the lowest I've seen and includes shipping.

AlexR 1,208 #136 Posted March 28 Didn't get a bunch of photos, but got the head sanded straight. Ran taps through the bolts and block for the head bolts to clean the threads up. New Kohler points, new champion sparkplug, new condenser, put the rebuilt carb on Loaded up for plow day. 1

Yep going to do that tomorrow, when I offload it. I already got it heated up when I was getting the carb adjusted. Thanks!

AlexR 1,208 #140 Posted March 30 Tractor did excellent at the plow day even in the mud traction was better then expected, the carb was dialed. The only two things I would change in the tractor setup is some more weight up front, and need to get the throttle lever tightened up so it stays where I put it.
SylvanLakeWH 27,243 #141 Posted March 30 @AlexR Didn't Know you needed weights... I dropped off about 250 lbs of dumbbells and machine weights at Kevin's today...! I could have slipped a few into your trailer!!!

MainelyWheelhorse 954 #144 Posted March 30 @ebinmaine I think I did back when I first got the 308. I squeezed the throttle rivet with pliers and its been fine ever since. I did do it bit by bit though so I didn't immobilize it. 2

And as I was doing that gas just starting pouring out of the bottom of the tank of course I had just filled it all the way up lol. It was the rubber grommet that split. Fortunately I had a new spare one just had to get it on, so it was a bit of a mess Where did you get your gas tank grommet? Mine just split on my B-80. I DO NOT recommend buying the cheap ones anymore after having a couple split. Don't do it. These are very good quality. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/ftb01.php?clickkey=8569

They also sell very nice valves for the older threaded tanks and later push in style. This is also where I've been getting electric fuel pumps. Definitely recommend this company.
