Broken 103916 dipstick

Recommended Posts

M. Weiner

I'm in the middle of replacing my oil seals and inspecting the transmission on my new 79 C81. When I split the case I noticed my dipstick seems to be in 3 separate pieces, one of which I found after the picture. Can anyone measure the total length of their 103916 dipstick and tell me where they measured from, the high and the low marks? I will either weld up this one or find a junkyard one to cut down and etch. Anyone know how mine broke? I'd like to avoid this in the future.

Anything I need to look for while I have the case apart? All bearings look good.

I got a new one chopped up out of a spare Subaru dipstick I had and slapped my trans back together.

Thanks all!
