High/low shifter location

I am new to this forum but have owned a 310-8 for 30years.  I just replaced the needle bearings and seals on the axle and reinstalled the transmission . It was a long project because I was waiting for parts. Now that I have attached the trans to the tractor I  have a question; I can't remember if the high/low gear lever goes under/over the shaft that operates the brake. I have attached pictures in hopes someone can let me know if that lever goes under or over that part.
