ebinmaine 68,447 #1 Posted September 3, 2017 Help me out here? Clean off the gunk and rust, Line up the key/keyway and... Gentle taps with a BFH to put the hubs back on? Lube or no lube? Thanks!
pfrederi 17,887 #2 Posted September 3, 2017 Absolutely use Never Seize (or equal). You shouldn't need a BFH if you have cleaned the axle and the hub

stevasaurus 22,872 #4 Posted September 3, 2017 Also, hub should be flush with end of axle. When you tighten the bolt in the hub, do not over tighten the lock nut...doing so actually lifts back up the bolt a little and will mess up your adjustment. The bolt should be concave on the threaded end.

stevasaurus 22,872 #6 Posted September 3, 2017 If they are not, they are either worn of the wrong ones. It's the ridge that catches and does the holding. I know we have some pictures here on the site, but I am not so good at searching.

doc724 925 #11 Posted September 3, 2017 Buy new set screws (with the square head). They are about $1 each for high quality ones. Do not reuse the old ones. Do not forget to put never seize on the key and keyway too
ebinmaine 68,447 #12 Posted September 4, 2017 Back together again... Thanks again folks! Amazing how MUCH pressure to remove and little to put the hubs back on....
