Racinbob 11,237 #3 Posted August 31, 2017 Supporting our great vendors is a good thing. I'm with the 80w90 too. That's all I've used for years. 3
rmaynard 15,610 #4 Posted August 31, 2017 Shifter boot part #3577 is still a stocked item at Toro. They can be found online at any Toro parts dealer for about $6.50.
TimH 105 #5 Posted September 4, 2017 Ordered 3 boots off E Bay for 6 bucks ea. with free shipping. I see most like the 80w90 . Anyone know what brand is best and How much the trans holds ?
rmaynard 15,610 #6 Posted September 4, 2017 The 312-8 should hold 2 quarts, but it is best to add oil only until you reach the full mark on the dipstick.
TimH 105 #7 Posted September 9, 2017 I am sure glad I read all this . Trans was filled with diff fluid and water. Looked like baby pu. drain the best I could . Then blew out with air, Then flushed with D- Fuel , Lifed up front and right side rear, Let drain then used vac brake bleeder to pump out the rest. All is good. Installed new shiftier boot

Some do, but to me that is overkill. The majority of our horses didn't see a gear lube change for several decades and survived with regular gear oil.
