312 8 Shifter Boot & Gear Lube

Were is the best place to get a new Shifter boot for a 312 8 and what do you suggest for trans gear lube ?

Lowell @wheelhorseman has them coming out his ears. I like 80/90 lube.

Shifter boot part #3577 is still a stocked item at Toro. They can be found online at any Toro parts dealer for about $6.50.

Ordered 3 boots off E Bay for 6 bucks ea. with free shipping. I see most like the 80w90 . Anyone know what brand is best and How much the trans holds ?

The 312-8 should hold 2 quarts, but it is best to add oil only until you reach the full mark on the dipstick.

I am sure glad I read all this . Trans was filled with diff fluid and water. Looked like baby pu. drain the best I could . Then blew out with air, Then flushed with D- Fuel , Lifed up front and right side rear, Let drain then used vac brake bleeder to pump out the rest. All is good. Installed new shiftier boot

Some do, but to me that is overkill. The majority of our horses didn't see a gear lube change for several decades and survived with regular gear oil.

 I used Lucas SIN 80/90 Draws less moisture. Plus we stock it at our dealership.
