FatJackDurham 318 #1 Posted August 3, 2017 I swear, I am not a reckless person, quite the opposite, but I can't seem to stop having tractor related accidents. Tonight, while using my newly tuned 416-8 to pull my boat off it's trailer, I stopped and got off the tractor. The tractor was on a flat spot, and I thought I had put it in gear, but it started rolling down the hill towards my boat. I jumped in front of it but couldn't stop it and got my leg pinned between the boat and the tractor pretty bad. I managed to push the tractor off with my other leg, and nothing is broken, but I am a littler worried about deep tissue bruises. Combine that with: Nearly flipping the tractor yesterday driving up a hill in third gear hi (I thought it was in first) Having my GT-14 roll down a hill and smash the door of my car Flipping my Craftsman DLT3000 backwards over me mowing the hill Flipping my Craftsman ZTS 2500 sideways over a stone wall when the wheels spun on some sand while mowing a low hill (different spot) Flipping my Craftsman ZTS 2500 backwards over me mowing the hill (different spot) Flipping my Craftsman Lawn tractor backwards mowing the hill (different spot) Flipping my Craftsman Lawn tractor sideways mowing the hill (different spot) Everywhere I have had an accident, I have been able to mow before without trouble. Just suddenly, a wheel will spin and next thing I know I am flat on my back watching a Craftsman go sailing over my head. So far, I have never been injured beyond being winded, getting a few cuts or a stiff back. Each time it happens, I say, "Well, I guess I won't mow right there again." But things just keep happening. Am I cursed? Am I just stupid? Am I unlucky this keeps happening? Am I lucky this keeps happening and I keep not dying?
DennisThornton 4,769 #2 Posted August 3, 2017 I suggest it's just "Today!?! We are pushed to do SO much that we don't have time to reflect. (a nice way to say "Think about it!" first!) Pressure! Get it done now! Next! Savor the fact that you are alive and basically unharmed. Ask yourself would you like to stay that way. Would slowing down help? It ain't rocket science, just old time common sense. Git it done, but live for the next task! OR IT DON'T COUNT!
953 nut 55,197 #3 Posted August 3, 2017 You may want to invest in a pair of wheelie bars and a Sumo Suit!
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,297 #4 Posted August 3, 2017 I think I would stay off the Craftsman mowers , I don't think they like you.

Ed Kennell 38,156 #7 Posted August 3, 2017 If I counted correctly, you just used up 8 of your 9 lives. Looks like you have two options : 1. hire a lawn care and stay off your tractors. 2. buy a big life insurance policy, use your ninth life, and cash in on the insurance.

WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #13 Posted August 3, 2017 How about fluid filled and weighted drive tires with lower air pressure and/or maybe a different tread like ATV style, that'll help with your traction issues on the hills, Jeff.

DennisThornton 4,769 #15 Posted August 3, 2017 I suggest landscape changes with far less grassy hills, more trees & shrubs, a big rock garden and lots of flower beds. More work but you'll have more time because you'll live longer!

They are selling RV antifreeze for $3/gallon so it cost me about $36 to fill the tires as I didn't use the whole 12 gallons. I'll drive around the yard today after work and see how it feels. 2
stevasaurus 22,723 #23 Posted September 23, 2017 Heavier tractors can flip over also. I really like the wheelie bar or skids idea.
DougC 2,641 #24 Posted September 23, 2017 Quite honestly if a craftsman mower flipped over me that many times I would set in of fire AND use the Remington 870 pump shotgun on it as it burned..... Glad to hear you're ok!!!
