What made you decide to go with the C-160? That 318 parked next to it would make a good candidate.

The 318 is what my garage cat sleeps on, and she said no.

I had to reread this in the daylight.  Missed the "JD" and saw just the "318". Now I understand!  Yes! I'd like to add some green to the herd and any of the 300 JD series would suit me just fine.

Plans for that loader would be a great thing. I'm sure a lot of folks would like to build one. Myself included.

I'm curious why people don't choose to go with a 4 way joystick valve?

Is the cost less to go with the joy stick? Is it easier to control?

From my inquiries, it seems that the cost of 4 way joystick is more than a 2 spool valve but it a lot easier to use and smother to operate.

I never use plans, I start with square tubing set two pieces on a table and find the angle that looks right, mark it and cut it and weld it, and make a double for the other side. Then make a bucket using 1/8 plate, and 1/2 cutting edge, make the mounts for the cylinders, then comes the fun of getting the hoses and metal lines where you need them. I have made many loaders and everyone turns out different. I go to the metal shop and try to buy all the short cut pieces they got to save money. Hope this helps, If you start on one and have questions, PM me and I will try to help. some where in red square I have put a few of the loader that I built.

I learned on a joystick and very quickly.  I'm guessing I'd look like an idiot on a two spool.  Same on a backhoe only worse!

I've used to multi-spools on other equipment so I'm sure I would be fine but I really love the idea of joystick. when I make a loader I'll be doing my best to use a joystick.
