JetMech71 18 #1 Posted June 4, 2017 Hello everybody! My name is Jerry and i just bought a Raider 12 for my stepdaughter and i to restore and maybe modify. I am a jet engine mechanic by trade, my stepdaughter is going to an AG high school and is really getting into tractors. She said she loves them so i found an oldie for sale that looked ok and was within my budget. I really new to this stuff so i help you guys and gals will help me. First off, im trying to find out what year my tractor is. I have attached a photo of the ID tag. Hope someone can help. We want to do a full frame up restoration and maybe even enter it into a couple shows at the local fairs next year.
Molon_Labe 731 #2 Posted June 4, 2017 Nice tractor and Model #1-6251 would make it a 1970 Raider 12, looks like a nice restoration project.

Garry Garry, I just noticed, Jerrys '70 Raider 12 has stirrups and mine has foot rests. Is this the only model with both? Is 1970 the year they switched?

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,133 #12 Posted June 4, 2017 Thanks for the serial number. Checked the Raider parts lists and the full footrest was used on the 1968 models so this one must have been changed. Garry
KC9KAS 4,741 #13 Posted June 4, 2017 @JetMech71 to That will be a fine project for you and your (step)daughter to work on. On a side note...When I saw your screen name, I thought "I wonder if he works on jet engines"....I can see a Wheel Horse in the future with a jet engine on it! That sucker will be fast!
JetMech71 18 #14 Posted June 4, 2017 Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Hopefully my daughter will join this forum so i dont have to keep showing her my phone lol. Here is a zoomed in look at the data tag. Yes, i am actually a Large Commercial Jet engine Instructor for Pratt and Whitney. Large meaning Engines that are on. Boeing 747, 767, 777 and Airbus A380, A330, A320. Yeah, it would be cool to strap a Pratt Canada PT6A some how to tractor! I live in Connecticut and i am looking for a mower deck for my tractor now. Any leads anybody?

You may want to convert to a front mule drive deck system. There are probably more of this type available. We can supply details if you are interested in this conversion. The best place to find parts is to come to the Big Show in PA in a couple weeks. You will find everything you need. .

WHX?? 49,485 #20 Posted June 5, 2017 Hello Jerry and . You shouldn't have too much problem finding a deck they are out there. There is a ton of members in your area who will help you find one so a little networking with them maybe. I have two I would be willing to part with if I could get one out there. Put that Big Show on your bucket list of things to do for next year!
